Melo isn't being shutdown yet because
He is a draw for MSG fans
That he was told this is something that will
Continue to be discussed and longterm circumstances will factor
Melo's treatment towards injury after shutdown
He went on to say the Knicks are in a very difficult situation
There isn't a move out there for Phil to make
That would improve the team now nor in the immediate future
Teams aren't beating down the doors asking for players on a 5-30 team
This is a long-term rebuild job, trading Shumpert and THJR
Is possible but it will accomplish pretty much nothing
The team will also have a very difficult time attracting free agents
For a number of different reasons and that we'll have to be lucky in the lottery
They are sticking to the plan and the plan is Triangle and Derek Fisher
Aldridge is great. Daugherty on espn today said if Melo isn't hurt he needs to play because people bought tickets with expectation of seeing him go up against other nba stars. Last night a guy called Somers show after the game and said that he spent $600 to take his family of four to see the Knicks get crushed by the Pistons.

He shouldn't complain. What did he expect?
I'd say Melo should play if he isn't hurt because he just signed a ginormous contract.
But he doesn't seem right, and should be shut down so he can be right and play to potential next year.
Sad time is coming for casual MSG fans.
Rangers tickets are going up on secondary market...

Sounded like he bought the tickets before everything went south. Agree about Melo.

I was at the game because my folks split up a season ticket plan with friends and it was definitely a horror show. I'm willing to bet if you had spent money on that crap you would feel cheated too.
That said I do think Melo should shut it down but I understand why people are upset about Melo not playing.

He bought tickets two years ago?

No, there's a difference between buying tickets expecting to see the roots of a championship offense being sown on a mediocre team and dragging yourself to a game to watch a 5-30 abomination.

Covered this here and looks like a reality
According to the guy that called in but hey it's not Our money right?

If the Knicks are suggesting to Melo to shut down for the season, then they should offer refunds to any season ticket holders.
That would fair at the minimum.
If dolan wasn't such of scumbag all those years this would not be an issue
Go Rangers

Not to disrespect the guy who took his family
To the Pistons game but why are people in New York
Paying these astronomical prices to support Dolan's enterprise
In this rough economy, these same people will cry about how bad
Obama has ran the country yet you take your family to
Go see the worst team in the league play the 7th worst team in the league
And spend a whopping $600.00, Why why why why
If my mom gave birth to me inside of MSG and I was raised there
As for me going to a game today

ironic since dolan presides over them as well.

Buying a ticket now when you know the product sucks, I have no pity there. But I do feel the season tickets holders who buy their tickets in advance. But I'm not a fan of blatantly not playing players.
Knicks have it bad.....really bad.

Yeah the season ticket holders[not in case that's who this fan was]
Are so screwed this yr, I'd be looking for the guy
With the family or four or whatever and hock my tickets off to him
Maybe with a slight discount
Those tickets are the next highest sunk cost next to Carmelo's contract

The guy on Somers show said he bought the tickets as a Christmas present for his son. He said he bought them before things went bad. I have family that buy me Knicks tickets as a gift before the season starts. I think he was right to feel like he got a raw deal.
A lot of that is self-deception on the fans' part then. It was clear before the season started based on the models that this would be at best a .400s team.

I dont think anyone from the media or any metric or even fans thought it would be this bad. Those folks who bought their tickets in advance are absolutely getting robbed.
Aldridge comments were all based on opinion. Fuck that dude.
It's obvious the Knicks aren't going to make any blockbuster deals. Phil isn't trying to trade expiring contacts for garbage.
The Knicks still have a bright future beyond this season. Also melo is aware of his numbers so no way will be waste a season to rest when he can pad stats to pass legends later on in his career on the scoring list, etc.
yeah so fuck Aldridge and whatever he had to say.
