Kirk's a fairly intriguing piece we got back in this deal here. 6'11" 250 lb. C who can rebound a little and has some pretty good offensive skills. Effective hook shot on the block and he looks to be a good jump-shooter for a big. Some shot-blocking potential as well (1.8 and a whopping
2.7 blks/game his last 2 years in college). Only 23 years old.
You figure Lou Amundson will be waived immediately -- I wonder if Kirk and maybe to a lesser degree Lance Thomas are keepers... You wanna laugh -- Lance Thomas might be a better player than Cleanthony Early. Dude's not terrible and Early's shown next to nothing out there. Maybe we keep Thomas around and evaluate him side by side with Early, in practice everyday, etc.. Also wonder if these two have any value around the league in any potential trades?
I would like to keep Alex Kirk around and pray he becomes a good player so we can one day call him Captain....that would bring me endless joy

Lol agreed, I can see it now, Captain Kirk for the KNicks!

little early on the Early judgement no? Can we see him play like more than 100 minutes in the NBA?
I read some articles and watched a couple of highlights and noticed that he has really good range and can shoot the 3 ball every now and then. He has smart basic fundamentals in his low post game and has a sweet little Jump hook game and as Fine said has good shot blocking potential, he is also good in pick and rolls too. So pretty much what we are seeing is Coletrain with range, which for now I will take anyday over Jason Smith and Daly.

I agree. Let's see what happens. Knicks actually need a center so he might stick around
to be fair about early, finest... he's been injured most of the year, he hasn't really had a chance to show a whole lot of anything. with the way that kid played in the ncaa tournament last year, id give him a number of opportunities, before we give up on him. i do like lance thomas, but mostly as a role player on a good team. if he can ever get back to the way he played prior to going to to duke, he'll be a great offensive player, but he hasn't shown it since. i do think he has very high bball iq and will make for a nice defensive role player in the very least though.
Anyone is better then Jayson Smith.

Agreed. I hear ya -- I'm not looking to cut him--willing to carry him over to next year at least (unless a deal comes up that's worth making)--I'd just love to see him much more assertive and aggressive out there. Show me what you got young fella -- you know what I mean? For the most part, he hasn't shown that, even before he got hurt. Not just Early -- no idea why these young guys aren't playing more aggressive. Acy finally showed a little something last night...THJ pumps up shots--he's really the only one. Aldrich is taking more shots in the post but that's not really his game, you can tell. His game is clogging the lane, rebounding and shot-blocking. I give him a little credit for at least attempting some offense in close though. Larkin and Early -- those are the two guys I really wanna fully evaluate here. Can they be legit scoring threats at the NBA level? The idea of the game is to put the ball in the hole after all. I wanna see if those two can do that with any kind of regularity. I don't even think Timmy's that good a player, but at least he's willing to show this aspect when he's out there. You figure with the season already lost, guys out all over the place and the whole thing wide open and right there for the taking, Early and Larkin should be more willing to show what they've got. Was listening to John Starks on Knicks 360 yesterday or whatever before the pre-game talk about how he thought he was in danger of being cut in 1990 and felt he needed to show he belonged so he attempted to dunk on Pat Ewing in practice and wound up hurting his knee. I remember that...See I like that...I wanna see Early and Larkin have that mindset and for my money, they really haven't so far. I saw Larkin actually drive baseline against the Bucks the other night and get right under the basket with no one around him and he wasn't even looking at the rim. I think he passed out to Prigioni or somebody out on the perimeter. I was SMH...Score the ball young fella!! Strange--you figure these guys would be chomping at the bit to show what they've got a little more. Neither guy is guaranteed to even stick in the NBA past this year.

good story about starks
Larkin passing up open shots and passing to prigs is learned from prigs who is the worst at that
I agree about having the youngins play balls to the wall but I would imagine that the triangle sets are making that difficult
They are two young players that could get looks and PERHAPS are triangle type skill. Its not rocket science but ball movement guys are good compliments to a system.
JR and Shump didn't get it.
Next, I want Amare out as soon as possible. He is definitely not TRIANGLE MATERIAL

If he was healthy and available to play everyday i would say keep him..... he's none of that so i agree with you.
We are not in position to be babysitting players. Bargnani needs to be outta here too. If they can be moved to get better so be it but there's nothing really out there so they need to go asap

Even if he were healthy I would want him out. He is a ball stopper and never looks to pass the ball. Get him and Bargnani the frok outta here
Kirk is 23 and if he has any of the skills some of you have seen in him, he is probably worth a look. Can't hurt us to give him some play at this point- if he is not that good, our push for the #1 pick is helped.
Hopefully he is good enough to keep and develop, but not good enough to interfere with the tanking process we are now witnessing.

He'll muthafrokin yeah
I can't wait.....I yearn to watch the Knicks play smart, and intelligent basketball.
