Knicks · The Thrill Is Gone (page 1)

Never will the Answer Man release his death grip on his Marcus Camby Sheik Towel, but the attachment to any players in this roster is gone.

Winning or losing does not matter at this stage. All that matters is letting go. Letting go of any emotion for the games. Letting go of caring about any individual performance.

All that matters is somehow finding eight men who will understand that the game is not about fancy player introductions or choreographed handshakes and chest bumps. The game is not about sulking, loafing or showing up late.

The game New Yorkers love to watch (not the tourists our owner panders to) is about coordinated, frenetic energy on defense and covering for any missed defensive switch by instinct.

It's about the game being played in unison. I don't care who wears the uniform anymore.

One more thing, any person who sits in Madison Square Garden and chants "Fire Fisher" should be given a survey to name the roster of the 30-50 1965-66 New York Knicks.

(That roster also included four players who would prove essential to the championship that would arrive four years later.)

Is it important? Maybe. Maybe not. I miss Jerry Lucas.

Keep hope alive.

are they still doing fancy player introductions at the garden? any team with a losing record shouldn't be allowed to do them.

Haha! QFT

They should put an intern on the bench with a jersey that says Cap Space on the back instead of a name.

Nalod @ 1/6/2015 11:11 AM

Jr is gone.
Shump no Triangle guy.

Getting down to the studs this renovation. Find mold, gotta keep gutting.
Its messy business.

Rebuild, Purge, tank......its on.

Bargs
Melo
Jose

The last of real NBA talent. Im sure the HateEight would debate that.

Let the rest of the season act as free agent Dleague audition. See the triangle, be the triangle.

Thank You Nalod

Being back the white warmup jackets circa 1972-3.

Give me an orange shooting shirt like the one Danny Whelwn used to wear.

Fun a fast break every now and then.

Fire the public address announcer or get him to announce in a tone that matches performance, not some over-amped game show host on daytime television.

Everyone is accountable.

I miss John Condon.

With that said, the Answer Man looks forward to Langston Galloway and Major Lance Thomas from Brooklyn.

Be still my heart.

Forget the obvious big names. If Uncle Phil is truly the Zen Genius he is being paid obscene cash to be he can pass on Aldridge, Gasol and Jefferson. He can pass on Noah and Durant in 2016.

The 26-6 Atlanta Hawks have taken the team building model of the Spurs (see the head coach) and refined it as an art form.

Uncle Phil should acquire the next wave of rising stars similar to Jimmy Butler and Nicola Mirotic. He should draft like his basketball legacy depended on it.

No more usual suspects. No more fantasy basketball card deals hatched in a wet dream.

Find me eight men who can play together.

Tell the public address announcer at The Garden to chill, unless something spectacular happens.

Hit the open man

shades of Red Holzman were draped on the press conference when Phil came home.
He brings his rings, he brings his hope.
He brings a big contract and a juice card so full he has stripped this mess to the studs.
MSG must turn up the volume to drown the boo's. It is paramount the boo's be hidden from Dolan who has taken too many ques from them.
He thinks they don't boo stars.
Reality upon us. Winners don't lament on the hindsight but straight ahead of the reality infront of them.
Hire a man to do his thing. Give him the tools. If you don't, he will fail. WE gave Larry and MDA the wrong rosters. They were destined to fail. We at least gave them multigenerational wealth.
We gave Fish no promise and a 5 year deal. If we give him the tool of "time and patience" he will succeed.
Atl getting it right. Josh Smith is the new Rudy Gay. Leave two teams and in the wake of departure improve them. Get paid tens of millions regardless!!! What a country!
Patience. Some guys can't see that the change upon us know has to succeed beyond what we had. Better decisions lead to better results. Every day, every person, every business, everything!
Maybe phil rights the ship but its a bigger task than his tenure. Thats ok too. As long as there is successor to impliment good management, Im ok.
If Dolan reverts back, then dark days will return.
It took 15 years to bring us to this point. WOodson did a good job with duct tape and bobby pins. We can keep putting patches on it or gut it.

Gut it.
