( Don't get me wrong, love Beckham and his insane catches) But the Giants have generally drafted poorly to get to where they are now. You get a series of several strong drafts in a row, you are golden ( like Seattle) You have a bad run of 2-3 lousy drafts, and it will kill you. Todd Bowles took a broken and hurt unit and got max value out of that Cardinals defense. Sadly, he was probably seen as the standard this season for DC output. ( Arizona simply invests far far more assets into their defense than most teams)
Coughlin and coaching aside, Giants have to really HIT on several drafts in a row. Coaching is much easier when you are stockpiled with talent.
Yeah ... ODB saved Jerry's job.
He drafted well enough to win two Superbowls in 5 year with his draft choices as key pieces..
Think Jets would love to have him as GM??

It's not a reach to say the Giants could have drafted better in more recent drafts. Wilson is a tragic situation, but honestly a poor use of a first round pick. Kennard looks good from this recent class. And Beckham obviously looks like a game changer. But the front office really could have done a lot better trying to get O line help sooner.
In contrast, look at Arizona, they invested in their D ( Calais Campbell, Daryl Washington, Patrick Peterson, Buchanan, Mathieu, etc) and they drafted well within their D and it paid off well this year, even with their offense choking up.
How many Superrbowls have Arizona won?
