I'm a big fan of his....Reggie Jackson is talked about as an option, but if the Knicks could get Wroten that talent is comparable.

I was going to post something so similar

The Sixer I want is KJ McDaniel. Something about a guard blocking the shyte out of everyone gets me excited.
BigDaddyG @ 1/8/2015 12:01 AM
Wroten reminds me of a young Jamal Crawford. He's even wilder with the turnovers. He's not a good match for this offense.

He's a FA.

I thought Thanasis was more of a SF? But yeah, I have high hopes for Thanasis too!

They are basically the same player. KJ is more under control.

yeah ... I see the comparison.

THEY BOTH ARE FROM THE WORST SHOOOOOOOTERS IN THE LEAGUE

True but they are young....

Wroten actually has as a fantastic contact for the talent he displays. He's signed 2 more years at a low rookie scale.

RonRon @ 1/8/2015 1:33 PM
I really liked Wroten and hope we would have traded for him before the season started, as I knew his value was going to go up with MCW being out early this season
His ability to penetrate/finish, along with his ability to facilitate, and physical abiltiies of size/strength/speed/quickness/athleticism is TOP notch, comparable to players like

John Wall
James Harden
Manu Ginobili (young one)

his combination of skills/physical abiltieis are amazing and it would force our opponents DEFENSE to help and give our shooters wide open shots
I would have offered Tim Hardaway JR, along with a future 1st rounder, along with them taking one of our big contracts of AB/STAT, giving us a large trade exemption and Wroten/KJ McDaniels

I think KJ McDaniels would be a great pairing with Thanasis's DEFENSIVE abilities
KJ McDaniels signed a 1 year deal, making him a UFA after this summer

In the range of 2-3m on a multiyear deal, 2-3years with team options, is slightly overpaying, but considering his versatility and ability to block/steal's with his length would have a huge impact of paired with Thanasis

Personally, I think we should not use all of our salary cap on 1-2 players
We are better off, signing one player in the range of 8-12m
I am assuming no one like Marc Gasol, LA, Love, Lebron, Millsap, will not come over to NY

We are better off looking for steals on multiple players positions

Multiple players with contracts from the range of 2-3m and 4-5m, some players here could probably be signed for the vet min as well
Along with some of the D League prospects that Finestring has been mentioning, some of which have been signed to 10 day contracts already

Aaron Brooks
Donald Sloan

Randy Foye (team option)

Wesley Johnson
KJ McDaniels

Matt Barnes

Copeland
Dante Cunningham

Jeff Adrien *just got waived as well*

Ed Davis

Koufus
Freeland
Lavoy Allen

Would prefer Wroten over Reggie Jackson as he would be cheaper and we wouldn't have to commit to him long term either, giving us time to consider

exactly, he is young, but he will eventually get payed, however it buys us time
If he was on our roster, Calderon will be able to get open shots and be the 2ndary ball handler
Calderon isn't having a good year so far however he in his entire career he has been a great FT shooter (important to close games), high % 3pt shooter, provides leadership/controls tempo, and high T/O/ASSIST ratio
A reason I don''t think it makes much sense to stretch Calderon is because we would only get under 5m to spend, for shooters with his ability to spread the floor could range from 3-5m
Now different story if we had deals agreements in place like we did with Tyson Chandler, if we do stretch him, and if we can acquire talents of a trio of

Dragic (maybe this trio is unrealistic, but if we can get a cheaper PG instead like Wroten, and the bottom to fill out our roster along with the #1 overall pick for a Anthony Davis/Duncan like talent
Millsap or Kevin Love/LA
Marc Gasol

Then it would be different with verbal agreements
One would have to be through a sign and trade
And I would surely use Cole Aldrich's contract to go over the cap in order to use the FULL 5m MLE (which will be close to 6m) on 2 players to fill the roster for depth

How about the shooting issues (which look awful), does that not alarm you?

I think being on a rookie pay scale is what helps risk and make it not so alarming. His shooting is bad and has been awful since high school. However, his shot chart looks absolutely Houston D-league-ish, near the rim and 3ptrs. The promising thing is he knows how to get to the line. He got there last year 4.5 per game/6.6 per 36. This year he is at 6.1 per game/ 7.3 per 36.

The problem is he sucks at shooting. His inability to shoot hurts everything he does well. He shot selection is great but he can't make 3s. He gets to the line but he is only a 66% Ft shooter. He needs to stop shooting 3s until he gets great at practice. He should only take around 50 3s a year for now and only corner 3s and late clock heaves. He also needs to get near 80% as a ft shooter and that maybe a hard task.

Do you know his percentages on spot up and contested attempts? I could give him the benefit of the doubt since he plays for Philly. I still don't believe he's a good fit as a lead guard in this offense.

On NBA player sportvu data He attempts 3.0(2.8 threes) catch and shoot shots a game. His shooting percentage is 28%. I do not know if they are contested or not.

Well advanced stats on his shooting aside, the dude is a nice talent to have. Philly would be stupid to trade him while he's so young, confident and improving....the dude is a gym rat. So i anticipate his jumpshot gets better over time.

I wanna compare dude to Tony Parker with his ability to get in the paint every time down the court. That is valuable in any offense. The triangle can be modified to work in his game. I dunno how the Knicks can get him because Philly doesn't have any salary assets to trade and the Knicks don't have and draft picks to scoop him. I think a first rounder of any kind could get Philly to trade the kid. Philly seems obsessed with the draft
