Supposedly Wolves had interest but no room on roster
This franchise just can't get a break, even when one is handed to them. To let this kid go over Amundson, is just ridiculous. We had first shot at him and this? Good job Phil, put this one in your memory banks.

Ah Galloway needs his chance--thats the way weve gone. We have 3 PGs as of now--what can we do. Its not a make or break deal in anyway.

We certainly don't need Calderon. He can't play defense and is likely to be moved anyway. I agree Galloway needs his chance, but imagine Galloway and Wolters. We could have cut Larkin, who obviously Phil is not planning on bringing back. Wolters was a cheap and probably great solution.
Jimmer is NOTHING like Wolters, except that they are both white. Wolters actually played decently when given the chance, Jimmer didn't.

The New Orleans Pelicans are parting with Nate Wolters after his 10-day contract expires, a league sources tells RealGM.
Wolters has signed two 10-day contracts with the Pelicans.
Wolters was waived by the Milwaukee Bucks in early January.
New Orleans aren't re-signing him. I doubt we give him a shot now we've signed Gallo

It's possible. There are also examples like Jeremy Lin and Danny Green of guys who just needed to find the right situation to thrive.

Danny Green has always been an extremely high producer (efficient) when giving the minutes.
Wolters has gotten minutes (1300+) last year.
Jason Kidd is a smart PG, he ain't stupid.
Of course anybody can surprise you but this guy looks like he is just not good enough.

He struggled the first half of last season, but he was forced to start early in the season due to see injuries. He picked up his shooting in tge second half of the season. Plus, he's already shown that he's a solid defender at the PG spot.
I think he just got caught up in a numbers game in New Orleans and they didn't want to pay him for the rest of the season. Wolters might prove to better suited for the Turkish basketball league than the NBA. But it's too early to tell right now.

Walters broke his hand in March of last year which messed up his summer prep from what I read. He's only 23 so there's still a chance for him to catch on with a team and I would say he may end up in the D League where he can raise his value back up if he performs well. My issue with him is that he has short arms for a guy who is 6-4. He has just under a 6-4 wingspan. He's not fast or athletic either. Still he's smart and highly skilled. Sounds like a guy that would play well in a system like the Triangle. Nothing to lose sleep over tho. If the Knicks scouts have a high opinion of him we don't know.
Wolters was pressed into early action and he performed quite well. He protected the ball well and conducted the offense like a veteran, but Larry Drew recently banished the second-round sensation to the end of the bench. Wolters has the size to defend opposing guards, and the early returns on his defense have been outstanding.
The Bucks allow just 97.0 points per 100 possessions when Wolters is on the floor, compared to a whopping 108.8 pts /100 poss when he's on the bench. Overall, the Bucks are a net -13.7 pts / 100 poss without Nate and a +0.8 pts / 100 poss with him.

so why did they get rid of him?
Can only speculate. I'm just saying that it's too early to write him off as a stiff and that he's already demonstrated one skill that translates well at the NBA level.

Like I said dude is only 23 and could just need a coach and GM that is willing to work with him and allow him to grow into a role. It amazes me how impatient people can be with PG's considering how hard the position can be for young players. Walters reminds me of a big Luke Ridnour. He gets overlooked cuz he doesn't do exciting things or flashy stuff that gets to the highlight videos.

Nate's a good player--an NBA player who if he can smooth out his jumpshot has substantial upside. He went from a great position--getting PT where he could play free--to sitting on the bench in back of 3 guys. The bottom line on a team vying for a playoff spot--is Nate Wolters a guy you can count on in your second unit to hit a tough shot--or make an important play while the kid has been sitting all year. He's going to need rhythm game minutes minutes to get his play back so his best bet is to either find a tanking team who can offer 15+ good consistent minutes OR go to the D league after someone from his position gets called up.
Suggest to take a look at Tyler Johnson of the Heat. I saw him the other day and he looked better in that one game than I have seen any of their smallish guards play all year. I think that is what Nate could bring to a team

ok ... we will see soon if Phil wants him. They obviously have ideas that we don't have a clue about ... see Admunson etc and the 10 day crew.

That's fine but it still doesn't mean Wolters can't catch on in a different scenario. Maybe the kid just needs a system and role that fits his skills and playing time to actually get his confidence back. No one was giving Galloway much consideration and look at him now.

I think it might be the situations he has been in this year. Kidd wanted Martin and when he needed a point they brought up Gutierez who Kidd coached last year. Seems like this guy is bargs waive worthy in my opinion.
