Knicks · I think Deangelo Russell moves to the 2nd pick in the draft (page 1)
BRIGGS@ 1/8/2015 11:23 PM
I think if we move away from our need for a big--in terms of pure talent(meaning best player available) for what kind of style of play we want---Russell moves into position 2.
Other than some bodyweight(and hes got a nice frame which will handle more size)--he has a very similar game to harden. 6-5 lefty plays the 1.5 effortless 3 pt shooter great passer solid defender capable of scoring 25 points any night crafty well skilled defender good rebounder high % efg He's ready to go I dont see much developmental time--hes NBA ready even though hes 18 going on 19. I think there is less risk picking him vs others at 2 if we dont get 1. He has very similar numbers to what harden had his first year at Az state.
I think Mudiay--there's more risk in that he cant shoot and Towns to me hasnt proven enough to go above a guy who is doing it every night from an important position.
You can look how effortlessly he plays yet is a big time producer

Since we only have 1 pick, We are to trade it to whoever has multiple picks in the first round

I hope we get the best value out of it. Its VERY VERY hard to trade down from position 2 or 3 in any draft--and it would have to be a perfect fit. This guy is an elite level talent guy who plays 1.5 at 6-5 with long arms. We'll have to see but personally right now he's my #2.
Knicks1969@ 1/8/2015 11:56 PM
All he does is shooting 3s? He is very cerebral with the ball, he plays a little like Mark Jackson

In my opinion, there hasn't been significant flux in the top 5 in the past month or so - mine being okafor 1, mudiay 2, harrell 3, russell 4 and towns 5. The top 2 are quite certain for me barring injury. Russell is a favorite of mine and a strong candidate at 3-4.
Vmart@ 1/9/2015 9:03 AM
He looks good but two might be to high. He looks like a middle of the pack 1st rounder.
EnySpree@ 1/9/2015 9:20 AM
I think if we don't get #1 we should trade down. I was watching highlights last night and I think D'Angelo Russell is better than mundiay. I seriously like Harrell too.
Jahlil okafor is the prize. If we can't get him trading down and getting a mid lottery pick and a good player would be fantastic

He looks like the best point guard in the draft to me

I wouldn't trade down. This team needs a homerun with its pick. The Knicks have been down the road of middle of the pack picks. The Knicks need a star in the making. A homegrown star. If the Knicks don't land OK4 I think Mudiay is the guy going forward. He seems to be a player that Phil can work with, from the PG/SG position.
fishmike@ 1/9/2015 9:48 AM
Russell looks really good. I also think Stanley Johnson might be #2. Can shoot the 3, NBA body, elite defender, elite athlete and is very very intense. I feel pretty good about Russell or Johnson if we miss OK4

Russell has good vision but Mudiay is the better passer. Russell has a good jumper, Mudiay is the better finisher and more creative around the basket.
If I had to choose knowing that the Knicks would choose no less than 4th
1. OK4 2. Mudiay 3. Johnson 4. Towns

I think D'Angelo Russell looks like a star too. He's a pretty mofo too. Some teams are really high on mundiay so I would trade just to squeeze out another asset....cuz if Russell is available with a lower pick, that's a better deal to get him and another player

Anything is possible but I'd go with Mudiay though. Squeezing out assets how often does that happen for the Knicks? The Knicks are the only ones that get squeezed.

this kid can REALLY shoot!
his first step in the clips seemed to be a bit slow. Does not seem to have blow by speed.
he also may be better suited at the 2 and he may be too small as an SG.

He (Russell)reminds me a lot of Marc Jackson

he reminds me of a lefty jrue holiday (unflappable with the ball) when he was having his best season. that is a good pick because jrue blew up and that's where this kid already is right now.

just remember that people said all kinds of crap about this about stephen curry before he was drafted that he can only shoot 3s. i always have to add to any mention of stephen curry that don nelson screwed the knicks royally in that draft.

Nelson didn't screw the Knicks the Knicks did it to themselves. When losing isn't a priority when a team is going nowhere and those meaningless wins do nothing for the team. It's the Knicks fault for not taking the draft seriously enough.

My first preference would be Towns but he's got to show me more for pick #2. Its too risky to guess that high. I think he needs to have 2-3 dominant 20-10 games to show he has the goods. I like him--but how could we draft him based on what we have seen so far. hes had moments and hes also been invisible at times. He had one stretch over 40 minutes/2 games where he had 5 points. I think to be considered for #2 or #3 you need to put 12-15 points in the basket every night with solid rebounding and shot blocking. You need consistent bonafide play--he has time but he needs to show a LOT more.

Kid looks Smooth and I LOVE big guards. He kind of reminds me of Clyde in that he's got that size and smooth glide and doesn't seem like he's moving that fast but he's always gaining the edge on his defender. If Phil LOVES Steph Curry I can't see why he wouldn't also love a kid like this.
