People need to give Timmy a break he's only in his sophomore year. And playing for a bonehead coach that is in need of some serious hand holding on how to coach a nba basketball squad ... Esp in terms of substation ...

It's a shame thjr is fishers scape goat for how bad his starting line ups defense is in general. if fisher used his brain he would pull caldron for his Swiss cheese defense that always leaves a player open from 3 and before you know it were down by 20..

fisher could bench caldron first for his god awful defense and poor pg play. Jose is a vet that can handle criticism and probably play with a little more aggression when he got his # called after being benched for poor play...unlike a kid in his sophomore year like thjr who needs to play through his mistakes and gain confidence.. That's coaching 101 fisher really needs to learn

Fisher has to stand for something. The starting unit wasn't playing defense. If you want to play you need to bring it ever night. You must show effort on the defense. I'm not down with babying players. That's not hire you develop talent

there's no excuse for the son of a former nba player to not be fundamentally sound. still, does anybody bear in mind he was drafted 24th?

I agree, but THJ needs to also show that he has a good handle of the basic fundamentals of the game. Early on, he was attacking the basket, but the last five games, he has been too trigger happy; specially from beyond the arc. Has anyone ever interviewed this kid to see whether he can truly analyse the game of basketball? That would truly expose his intellect and see whether he is worthy of a long term investment.

His father told a reporter that THJ won't take any advice from him. I hated Hardaway back in the day, but he is a borderline HOFer, and could have helped Tim with his game, especially now. I'm pretty sure he would tell his son to take it to the rim more often.

I still would rather see how things shake out this season, his trade value is in the dumps right now and we aren't making the playoffs.
Plenty of time to right the ship.

Not a good sign.

I don't think it was just that jr wouldn't take any of Sr's advise it was that Sr was hard on him. Who knows there could have been a lot of "He got Game" moments minus the drinking, mother, and jail scenes if you know what I mean.

Or a "Great Santini" moment. IDK, hard to say from a distance, but THJ went into his father's line of work, he should swallow his pride and talk to his Dad. Couldn't hurt.

THJ not seeking advice from his pap is a sign of a not so smart young man

The kid doesn't listen to anyone, he's a 5 yr project

Then he will certainly have a short career

Every Knicks rookie is overly expected. Lets be real. This kid can play under the right system.

I see greatness written all over this kid, but I am affraid he is not intelligent enough to get there. He works hard at all of the wrong things. He puts up a lot of (3 point) jumpers, but failed to work on his post up moves, his ability to put the ball on the floor and drive. This kid needs to abandon the 3 point shot and concentrate on the aforementioned if he wants to achieve great things in this league. But sadly, I don't believe he gets it.

Recent quote from Fisher about THJ

Knicks coach Derek Fisher noted this week that Hardaway, like most young players, needs to develop a more consistent approach to the game.

“Tim’s a second-year player, he’s not going to have all that you need to be consistently successful at this point,” Fisher said. “But he’s doing well and he’s having a rough patch right now, but he works hard every day.”

WHAT THE HELL DOES HE MEAN BY THAT?

What consistent approach is he talking about??????

I would guess that Fisher would like lil timmy to "consistently" hit his shots.

Not gonna happen.

I don't think that is what he meant. In fact I am not sure Fisher knows what he is actually asking from the kid.

yeah ... I don't know what he said - obviously.

I am suggesting what I think should be in his head.

Clyde said it best about Fisher and THJ; "pull him off the court? Immediately approach him to tell him what he did wrong." Clyde even said early in his career, one of his coaches did him just like Fisher is treating Hardaway; and he was not too happy about that

so fisher is doing a good job with hardaway?
