Melo and Lebron on the strong side would totally warp any defense and leave a kid like Kyrie wide open. A two man game with Melo and Lebron would be insane.
this is like ewing guaranteeing a playoff win.

No it's a very real assessment of Melo's game. Melo and his team in Denver with Billups is more of an indication of what he can do with a better floor leader and a dynamic player like Lebron would open things up for Melo. They would play off each other very well. Melo would be great with Lebron. I just think it would change the way the Cavs play with a more dynamic player like Melo. They still wouldn't be good defensively but I think they'd be a much more dynamic offensive team. I think it would make just enough of a difference that they would end up with a +point differential.

No, you can't guarantee that. The only thing that could prove that is if they actually played together.
*On edit: mreinman put it better than I could.
Knowing the makeup of 2 of the 12 players on the roster (Melo and Lebron) isn't enough to predict anything about the team. If it's Melo, Lebron, and 10 NBDL players, the team probably won't finish above .250.
I can guarantee you that if you swapped Melo and Love we'd be better than .100 right now, though. JK

I agree and think its why Cle is a legit destination for Melo. Lebron is best when he's not the primary scorer (Wade) and Melo is best when he's not facilitating (Billups) the offense just finishing it. They are actually an excellent fit in my opinion. Some depth at C with Mos/Varj and they just need to surround them with shooters. It would be a pretty wild team

Lebron lead Cleveland to the finals with garbage and at times he carried Miami when Wade and bosh were injured or not 100%. They would probably be close to .500 with lebron, Melo and bums

That was an excellent Denver team. If you were to play their role players (like #4 through 12) against Cleveland's, they'd probably win by 40.

That was an entirely different Lebron than what we've seen so far.

And don't forget that they're a .600 team right now in games when their big 3 have been together anyway.

Fair point. That was extreme HGH LEBRON
Yea they should be around a .600 team if you replace Love with Melo. Along with Irving

Last year's Melo? Yes. Not this year's.

This year's Melo is battling knee injuries and having a hard time adjusting to a new triangle system
When Melo is freed up to basically just go full on scoring mode next to a real floor leader like Lebron or Billups it makes a huge difference IMO. We haven't had anyone that could really be a threat to score and at the same time pass to Melo at the precise moment. The 54 win team is the only time we actually had something around Melo. It was just too old of a roster but with a Lebron and Kyrie I think it would allow Melo to go into beast mode scoring wise. Of course we're talking about a healthy Melo.

Yeah, knee and back issues. That's one of the reasons why I don't think anyone wants him right now and he's going to have be able to get on the court and be healthy before any trades are possible.
A lot of people are still discussing Melo as if these injuries don't exist.

More so than the injuries I think Melo's struggles this year is failing to flourish in the triangle. Downright disregarding the triangle most of the time. Same way he struggled playing in Dantoni's system.
You hope that as we add talent Melo will be more willing to flesh out his game. I'm not holding my breathe. I've seen enough in 12yrs to question whether Melo can succeed playing team ball
It all comes down to value under the NBA cap. Melo is great at one price and bad at another. Would've been great in Chicsgo or Houston but bad on a .100 knicks team making $24mil per

replace Irving with a prime Billups or Lowry and they are a .700 team.

Irving (I think) is the one that is phuching up that team. He is a selfish prick who just wants to chuck.

Yea a modern day Iverson without the unique heart and fearlessness. Iverson always gave 100% every possession

yeah ... the anti Iverson really.
As much as I have killed Iverson, he always gave 150% effort. Just did not care to practice :-)
