Knicks · I've Found Out Why Amundson Is Here (page 2)

No, Amundson is a nice hustle player and continues to be. Well challange a lot of shots. He's as good as Turiaf some people here loved that guy. Dont be suprised if he's on the roster next year. Not every slot should be used on magical growing beans with upside. Amundson knows how to play.
He's had 10 day contracts before, we're not the first team to give one to him
So if he knows his role and done all the things teams need
No way he would be on his 10th team in 9yrsMath is math even with these metrics
Amundson is good. Knows how to play a role. He's not sexy and doesnt score but at 32 is still playing in the NBA. Not sure what the point is in making this more than what it is. We need cheap guys next year who can play. He could be one of them.
He's not someone you need to review on 10 day contracts
A known commodity in this league, who can be signed at vet minimum whenever the time arrives
We could have asked him to go to our D-League team if heReally wanted to earn his way on to a roster, and he's still a liability on offense
Oh and I can always make this real personal with you if you likeI'd rather keep the conversation where it should be
10 day contracts arent something to be used if to see if a guy fits in your system or his personality fits with your coach? Your making zero sense.
No I'm making sense but as you fish-flop into 2 line spaced typing with me
We did this with Shannon Brown and MbengedOn where are they now
We should be more interested in looking at players with upsideOr the ones who we sacrificed assets for to know if they will be here long-term
There's nothing to figure out with Lou or Lance

We need talent, but we need guys to punch in their clocks and go to work without an agenda. This is why I think they were brought in here.
I'm a pro at building championship basketball teams....on a basketball league level. But it's the same game. You don't and can't build a team of just talented players.....There's not enough balls to go around. You need a balance of players that understand their role....That's very important and that's why the Spurs are so successful. Phil understand this, so he will move guys out like JR or Shump, since they clearly never knew what their role was. For guys like Lou and Lance who are not only hungry, but understand how to impact a game, within their skill set, and not trying to do more than they can. We need more "DO YOUR JOB" players....As we've all seen with Greenbay. You can have all the talent in the world, but it only takes one knuckle head to mess everything up. With Green Bay, it was really 5 plays, but I was just using this as an example. Talent isn't everything. Basketball IQ and Do your job is the key to a successful team. Building solid relationships with other agents doesn't hurt either.

Lou and Lance will be there waiting for camp invites
That's what that is for, you're not going to be able
To glean anything from a couple 10 day contracts from stiffs like these
I see you flipping in the skillet, that's what happens when heat is applied
Not if we used the 10 dayers on guys like JaMychal or for mourning purposes
Call up our very own in Thanasis then okay great they are unknowns the higher reward
No different than Phil passing on Shane[he hustles, he gives effort, he tries] for theory sakes
While finding Langston Galloway because we all know lesser type talents are a dime a dozen

F500 is very critical of Phil to the extent I get the impression he thinks he knows more than him.
If F500 does not understand a move, he slots it as an incompetant move.

I feel that what blkexec has shared makes sense. But, (REALITY CHECK ALERT!) I would add that it takes TIME for all of this to come together; it doesn't happen overnight. So many teams in our conference alone are waaaaayyyyyyy ahead of us with their cohesion and team/know your role play. For that reason, no matter who we bring in, I feel that we'll be a .333 team next year instead of a .122 team as currently constructed.
KNICKSBIGCATS wrote:agree it takes time, but so far it looks like Phil is doing it right. I mean they used the D league to groom Galloway and he looks great. The other leading stat stuff on that team is Thanisis and both guys figure into this team's future. Lets see how it plays out. Certainly seems like the Dleague Knicks are being used by the big team to develop resources.fishmike wrote:blkexec wrote:god thank you a voice of reason. Had to dust off my login just to respond to this thought, do the math, how much do you think Bartelstein makes off a contract that's worth at most $25,000 (and probably worth closer to 15), do you think this bribery is enough for him to steer his big name clients (where he makes real money) to a team that is not in their best interests? He's not even that bad as other's have said. He plays hard, and won't upset the ping pong balls.

Agents typically make anywhere from 4-10% of money on table
And in likelihood all things representing their clients financially
Why wouldn't there be interest on both sides
I'm referencing future favors involving a team with $30ml of cap space next year
And possibly more cap space the following yr

so your brilliant logic is that bartlestein traded future business with phil jackson and phil had to sign his guy to a 10day contract? lol. maybe you shouldn't post every thought that comes into your head from now on?

the New Math:
Signing Melo = Phil the LifeTime Loser Award, no matter how trivial or un-earth shaking the move is.
You can read, as I've pointed out in the past, that F500 believes he's in better shape than Melo.
You really need to know more than that?
We tend to think of the big cap guys but there are far more guys on the brink. To be able to show potential clients a record of keeping guys in the league says a lot. So in a sense F500 concept is not far fetched.
He has no proof, so to say "I've found out why Amundson is here" is funny as hell.
BTW, NBA has a cap of what an agent can charge. Its 3%. Maybe outside endorsements can be charged more. Maybe F500, like Playa2 should do more research.
HUSTLE over talent
teams like OKC/Clippers play with talent and have not been able to be LEGIT contenders with the loss of Harden because they do not play enough as a team and DEFENSE every night with consistency
They lack IQ, Chemistry, that teams like GS and Atlanta makes up team effort/IQ over talent
Look at Chandler and JR Smith, they do not lack talent, they just are not the players that fit in with CA and our holes
But on other teams they are much better that take away their and hides their weakness's
It is why Atlanta is the best team in The East without an ALL STAR

He seems to be redirecting his Melo rage onto Phil.
fitzfarm wrote:Phil has always filled his roster out with a hustle not very talented but gives 100&10 percent ... He's probably looking at amundson as that 12 th man
This is the best time to add role players. The problem's we've had in the past, is that we will add a player as a role player, but that player thinks he's a star. Or vice versa....adding a star when that player thinks he's a role player.
Hopefully Phil can surround Melo and others with players that know their role. Mason, Bonner, Oakley, Starks, Sprewell......We never had the highest IQ players, even during the glory days of the 90's......But we had players that excepted their role, and performed to their fullest potential. That's why you add journey man, because they know their role...and without effort, theres no more basketball. And when we won 54 games.....It wasn't because of Linsanity......It was the vets and journey men around him.....that understood their role and did their best within their skill set.
Shump was a PG, then a SG, then a SF...back to PG and then switched to SF again.
JR Smith is a six man, with a game that fits a six man.....but he thinks he's a superstar that should start.
Felton was a star in college....but had backup PG skills in the NBA. I'm sure for the longest time, he thought he was a legit NBA starter. He might not start a game for the rest of his career.
Melo was a superstar in college....and a star player in the NBA....but he still thinks he's a superstar on MJ and Larry Birds level.
If we repeat what we have been doing by winning meaningless games, we will be screwed if we take ourselves out of the shot of having the #1 overall pick for OK4
Westbrook/Curry
Vucevic
Mason Plumlee
are some players that were picked RIGHT before us, especially with Vucevic and Mason, both of which would chagne our dynamic of the team
We also didn't draft Bynum and Gobert when we could have, including Hibbert/DenAndre Jordan and many C's when we didn't have a PG or Center of the future, PG's include Holiday/Lawson
