This kid reminds me of Shandon Anderson with a Nice mid range which shandon never had
Agree. Thomas might count more on the cap because he is a vet but he is just solid.
He's a perfect triangle guy and a great defender! he's worth it we need good bench players.
he's 26 yo... alot of the stuff he's doing could be flukey since he's hitting midrange shots at a clip he's never been able to do before... he rebounds and passes well for a smallish pf...
i'm ok with a contract to finish the year but beyhond that he's gonna need to keep this up for a full season...
He's got the right effort level and seems to be smart enough to execute the Triangle. Anyone who actually looks good in this system is worth a look cuz we know full well that not every player can function in this system. The challenge is finding players who have the skill, effort level and desire to play team ball. So far Lance has shown he has the desire and effort level and he's smart enough to actual play in the system.
Wouldn't be incredibly opposed although Thomas
Somewhat fits in the Larkin camp IMO
We don't have to sign him any longer than this season
If he'd rather pass then so be it
But if we sign him to a cheap deal, not the worse thing in the world
More than likely means the exodus of Acy, which would mean Phil gave up a 2015 pick for nothing
He makes the mid range jumpshot. Its better to keep guys who can be part of team going 4ward. You always wants to keep players together if they seem to have a chemistry. SMALL investment solid return on it--no brainer.
Lance Thomas reminds me of Kurt Thomas from the 3-4.
+1

You can't look at it that way. The key to success is not being afraid to cannibalize your own for a chance to improve the team. Just keep getting better and don't get married to a player just because. If Lance fits a role better than Acy so be it. Same goes for if the Knicks signed JaMychal Green. It's about improving in every way possible. I'm not saying that Phil has to sign LT but if he decided to do it then he would be saying he felt Lance was a guy he felt could be a useful part of the team next year.
It's only been a few games but so far LT has played some inspired ball. It's been crazy how much of a difference LG, LT and Amundson have made to the way the team has played. Not spectacular, but just giving effort and giving a damn. Solid team ball. They move the ball and hustle on D. Just makes a huge difference.

Because it's usually the shot in this offense that's uncontested
I see this being the case on other teams, if they look for it

One has to be a forward thinking GM
And understand there will always be Lances and Lous out there
Lance was once a Thunder and he was once a Pelican
Lou was once on every team in the league
You don't have to squander assets to acquire them
Or diminish existing ones to do the same
You're a prisoner of the moment and will always see everything as delectable and delicious
No matter if the sour or bitter is soon to surface

its only a handful of games, but it's the best 5 game stretch of his 3 yr career, you could be right

The biggest issue with the Triangle is that not everyone can excel playing in it. We just struggled thru a disastrous start and there were those even yourself trashing the offense and now with guys who are castoffs this team is showing that you can in fact play solid team ball in this system with players who understand that the ball has to move and who also understand when it's time to shoot or cut. If you find a player who is actually able to excel in this system then you have to give him some serious consideration. Especially when those players are also defending as well. I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about but it sounds like some dumb ass crap you're spewing.
YOu want us to believe that it's a bad thing to be giving minutes to guys on 10 day contracts so we can see what they can do? GTFOH!!! I'm so tired of your routine. These guys will be low cost reserves so what's the big deal??? No one is talking about long term commitments. We still have the other prospects on the roster but for now it's clear this mix of guys are able to produce on a higher level. Doesn't mean we're diminishing the young prospects. They have to learn and watching these other guys execute on the higher level will be good for them and their development. Now they can see that the system does work and just how to actually do it.

Yea people develop at different rates and he's never gotten a lot of burn before his stretch with the Knicks.. One thing that can't be ignored is his track record with his coaches( being the hardest worker and great teammate) maybe all that hard work is finally paying off! And again what a defender... Also I don't know how old some of you guys are but 26 is young
26 is right around where you peak in basketball... i mean it wouldn't be too terrible to have him signed to a minimum deal for next year but if those shots around the basket and the midrange shot start regressing towards career norms... he's not someone you're going to want to play meaningful minutes...
plus you have to realize we have had a really soft schedule... NO without davis, the sixers without noel, hornets without kemba and okc without durant....

Then when you think about filling the roster with
Cap space talent where will Lance play if
We sign the every sexy Moose in Monroe and sign someone like Lopez
There's talk we're thinking of bringing Amar'e back
I still don't see direction, maybe we'll have some clarity when the offseason comes

100 percent agree these our the kinda players you fill the team out with ala Galloway,Thomas, and even Lou hard working smart players... Not players like brags, amare,jr,shump who are all me me me over payed low iq guys. Galloway,Thomas, Lou are smart players who know there role.. they cost practically nothing against the cap. Letting us have more $ for max players. on top of that Galloway might be our future starting pg/2 guard for years to come . Let's bring in Seth curry and lamychael green these kids can ball ... A bench of green, curry,Thomas,Lou,thjr,Greek, early is awesome with Galloway,maybe(Mathews),melo,milsap,oak4/towns/stern pending on where our draft is ..
i still wouldn't give him a contract for next year... and i think it would be a mistake to do so... i just don't think minimum deals are a terrible mistake either way... but lance thomas is exactly the kind of guy that flashes good play for awhile then craters back to oblivion so i hope phil is a bit cautious here...

The dude was not getting consistent minutes, that is why his numbers looked bad. He is now getting minutes and playing for a contract; why freaking not? Pay the dude. He is a good kid with a strong head on his shoulders that all of his coaches love to have. Most importantly, he and the other dudes are all following Carmelo's leadership...
We need to get rid of brags,Jose,prigs,amare... Then were set for a real fresh start and tons of cap space

Really? How do you know this?
Yup lets commit to him cause he played a decent game.
Phil, I really hope that you are reading my posts.
