Knicks · Have to start looking at these two foreign players in the upper draft (page 2)

I really like Bobby Portis a lot--I think to me hes a clear 5 but now with this kid I think he goes in front to a top 5 pick and moves Portis to 6..

KG is a once in a lifetime talent. All time great player even though Fish thinks he's overrated

i put Porzingis at 5 in the draft. There are going to be teams that might just have him higher but 5 seems about right.

I actually had Porzingis going to Minnesota in last year's draft game. I thought Minnesota would stash him for two years in anticipation of Love's departure.

porzingis looks ok but his rebounding numbers are a bit suspect.... just like any euro...

the videos are a bit misleading... his numbers scream soft euro big man...

If he puts on 20 pounds of muscle watch out. Hes got great shooting form--you can see hes already mastered a fade-away and hes 7-1 with freak long arms--this guy is SERIOUS.

I really wonder if nPhil would give this guy serious consideration. Boy does he have a LOT of potential. How long do you think his arms are---7-7? He can handle the ball for 7-1 pretty well great form on the J athletic. His body needs 20 pounds--will he be the type that gets hurt? Can you imagine this kid at his peak with the mid range jumpshot? Not stoppable. Also notice how hard he plays--hes not afraid around the hoop--he is aggressive. His arms curl out and like Whiteside look like they can snatch and slam anything from 12 feet down.

I have no problem drafting euro players in the second round if we get another pick but not in the top 5 where will most likely draft

I wouldn't take him top 3 but I would consider 4-5 due diligence on him he's got a chance to be special name me another7-1 athlete with his skills and athletic ability. He's a full court player who can handle and has nice form. Yes u might have to wait on his body but it would be a serious consideration given that he has franchise caliber physical attributes

Porzingis is a project. Dirk was a project as well and brought along slowly if my memory served me. Doesn't mean he will amount to anything, but he would probably be a better fit with a team with more long term plans.

nope thats way too high. towns mudiay russell and johnson are all better options at that spot

I remember our mcdonald's all americans went overseas to play the germans or some other U18 international squad way back when... The american squad was led by ronald curry.. he never really made it in ball but did get drafted in the nfl and played for the Raiders for a time... there was unbelievable hype about him surrounding this game and it was on espn on some random afternoon... me being the basketball junkie just wanted to see what this was all about....

he had a ho hum very forgettable game but this german kid on the other team ... obviously dirk ... was literally killing the americans... he stole the show... i don't know what the box score was but it seemed like every time down he would grab the board and hit a 3 in someone's face... he must've scored 40 pts or close to it...

anyway.... dirk was a bit of a project but i think he was much further long than anyone realized save for don(nie?) nelson... and he had a feistiness to him that i don't think any of these euro guys have save for montejunas in houston... porzingis looks a little soft to me...

Ok I would not be comfortable burning a top 5 pick on a Euro project. This guy is too skinny and we don't have any clue about what he can do against NBA caliber competition. There is simply too much risk. Yes he could be the next Dirk but he could also be the next Jan Vesely whose claim to fame will always be the chick he kissed after being drafted because he suhucked at basketball.

This is a guy you take with a late 1st round or 2nd round pick once you have a good team already constructed a la the Bulls and Mirotic. Then if he pans out he pans out if not it's not devastating. If the Knicks took this kid and he pulls a Nikolov Tskitishvilli (or whatever that guys name was) it would be a serious blow to the teams future. And we certainly can't afford any of those. I'd use a top 5 pick on a guy with a lower ceiling and less risk any day of the week.

Deangelo Russell is the best pure basketball player in this draft I said he will be the next Clyde and I believe that I'm not as hot on mudiay because of his shot although he is a top 5 player. I would agree most times about the euro player but in this case other than the top 3 guys it really appears porting is has the best upside. He's a freak and he will be unique and special if he puts on 15-20 PDA now an nba team would have to do the diligence there but if he checked out that doctors feel he can be 240 and has no medical history I would seriously consider taking him at 4

i LOVE nurkic from what little that i've seen of him...

porzingis plays more like a small forward like a skinnier bargnani and the numbers look similar...

which is fine... i think he can be useful.. but the draft is filled with pretty damn good players... i don't think he should be in the top 5... stanley johnson for instance has shown way more... porzingis is more tail end of the lottery in my book...
