Might not be about the knicks but we celebrate the History of the game in NYC.
Have some Nate "Tiny" Archibald!
h
Its not about Lance, Pearl Washington, or Marbles, its the history of the game! You have coach's, players, writers, Commish, all from the area. We helped spread "the city game" to international levels!
I hope some of you are getting to enjoy some of the festivities!
Nalod@ 2/12/2015 8:31 AM
The smooth ball handle skills of Connie Hawkins! Perfect soundtrack!
StarksEwing1@ 2/12/2015 8:39 AM
Personally the all-star weekend doesnt have the same excitement as it did when i was younger even if its gonna be in New York. I mean the slam dunk contest used to ahve the best dunkers and stars participate in it

The last All-Star game I "watched" was in the Garden. Wife and I sat next to Dr. J., who was quite charming and polite.
Only reason I watch now is my hoopster kid likes it. Will probably check out the 3pt shooting to see if Korver can beast it out against Thompson and Curry. Might check out the dunks.
jrodmc@ 2/12/2015 10:20 AM
Three Point Shoot Out has some quality participants in it. That should at least be interesting.
Mike Fatincessant was talking it up with Reggie Miller the other day...
Nalod@ 2/12/2015 11:13 AM
Personally, I won't watch any of it unless im sitting watching tv an remember its on.
Otherwise not.
Last game I watched was watching Kobe and Stephon get hot and duel it out in the 4th quarter. Dont' remember who won but it was fun.
Best was 1975.....
Clyde was MVP with 30 pts! He and Earl started in the back court. Tiny Archibald in the west.

nyc basketball legend. All these guys should be showcased this weekend. Free was the epitome of ny basketball
EnySpree@ 2/12/2015 12:09 PM
can anyone old enough to remember speak on this guy? Dude was a nice scorer for the Knicks averaging 19 at the age of 24 then got hurt...played 2 years later and then retired. I always thought his situation was the reason the Knicks Gave up on King so easily.

Toby Knight suffered a knee injury that ended his career. i think it occurred just beforo or just after he was to sign a second contract. His injury was before orthoscopic surgery was common. For years he lived in long island and actually came to work out with my high school team one time. I know he coached Molloy college for a few years but don't know anything beyond that.

The 3 point competition is pretty much the one event I've consistently enjoyed the past few years. Definitely looking forward to it this year too.

What you think about the toby knight theory. King was the first to fully come back from acl surgery. Knicks probably saw another toby knight all over again

Prior to Bernard an athlete was pretty much done once he had that type of surgery before orthoscopic surgery was the norm. There is always gonna be that what if the Knicks kept Bernard.
KEEPCAMBYNY@ 2/12/2015 10:28 PM
Btw, Clyde and Bernard King are suppose to be judges for the dunk contest, so i might check it out just for them.
TPercy@ 2/12/2015 10:33 PM

Was a fan of his when he played. Lean and long body- T. Prince type body. Mid and short range jump shots. A friend of mine who was a ball player thought Toby was a black hole on offense and not a willing passer. Did have his best assist year in the year before the injury.
Average went up progressively each year until his injury. Played some D and was a decent rebounder for a small forward.
I think he would have been a foundational player on the Knicks for many years if he had not gotten hurt.
I was stunned that his career ended so quickly. He was a favorite of mine, and was on the verge of becoming an excellent player.
So it goes.
Nalod@ 2/14/2015 11:44 AM
Watched 5 minutes of the "rising stars" and was pretty evident how far the international game has evolved!!!! Was looking for knick players???? None. Minny had 4, Philly had a few. If Embid was playing he might be there. Dumb ass stupid Nets even managed Two!!!
Its the state we are in, but not the place we are going to. Im ok with cleaning house this year. Too bad THjr not playing at HOME!!! He has regressed that bad!!!
Those Rising star uniforms were very cool. The crackle baseline "Brooklyn" and the uni's were great. NY got two great arena's!!!!
Durant got a big billboard in times square?? Seems like dude is a huge global star even out in a cowboy town!!
holfresh@ 2/14/2015 9:20 PM
What other sports can pull off what the NBA is doing this weekend?
TPercy@ 2/14/2015 9:52 PM
Really upsetting watching the all star competitions in NY, with no one in it from Knicks except from Melo.
holfresh@ 2/14/2015 11:00 PM

Kid took the roof off on his 50 dunk..... then he was mediocre the rest of the way. These guys need to comb youtube and find better dunks.
