Joy oh joy! The draft can't come soon enough.

Especially since our pick is going to be a 5 yr project, and won't have any impact until melo's contract expires,

earthmansurfer @ 2/13/2015 11:31 AM
Right after he plays in the all star game.

Only Melo could get away with such a thing because he has bulletproof legacy and is a digital athlete

Why would you expect our pick to be a 5 yr project and who waits on a player that long anymore? If we get that top spot and lock in for a top 4 pick, that's going to be a very talented player. We can't guarantee they'll be great but there's a good chance we will get a good player that high. It's a good draft.

It will be some time before Anthony's "legacy" has become finalized and etched in stone, and, at this point in his NY career, he has done nothing that even hints at his being a transformative figure in Knicks' history.

Only knicks fans and media can blast a player for both not sitting out AND for sitting out. Brilliant- I'm sure every player in the league would love to play for such wonderful people!

Maybe so, in which case we can look to trade Melo for 2016 and later picks and/or players who can contribute in the right time frame.

For me, I'd rather start a fresh young team and build for the future than try to win it within the time frame of Melo's deal. But that's because I am not a huge Melo fan.

But the talent at the top of this draft class looks like they will contribute WAY earlier than 5 years from now.

Only 5? At least you think there will be an impact. Got that going for us

Good point lol

It did not take 5yrs for David Lee to make an impact. Either the player has it or not

To understand WHY a choice is made you have to look at who benefits and who is hurt from said choice. When you know the consequences it is not too difficult to make judgments on the choice.

How will you feel if for some reason Anthony is not fully ready for the beginning of next season? Will having a Knick starting in an All-Star game mean anything to you as a fan if that player was to further injure his leg and affect the next season?

As a Pacer fan are you happy that your star player was injured in an off-season All-Star type situation and missed most of your season?

Just wondering.

The recovery is 2 months, it's not an issue

gunsnewing @ 2/13/2015 3:25 PM
Then he should've had the surgery 2 months ago and be playing right now. For his teammates and the owner paying him $124mil

Perhaps you should put in words like projected or anticipated before the word recovery.

Could be 1 month for all I know... but then none of use know what will happen down the line.

Others might bring up some specific examples, but I'm not sure the doctors used by the Knicks are the most accurate in their predictions related to recovery time.

Almost everything done so far relating to this injury has been timed around this All-Star game, and nothing to do with the on court welfare of the team this year and in the future.

Basing it around the all-star game in a sense is for the future welfare of the team. Need Melo involved in this type of stuff. It's a stars league, we need representation and the fact that we have it should be seen as a positive. He started the season, played as much as he could to see if it was worth trying to turn it around this season, and now it's apparent its not. I don't see anything wrong with it.

gunsnewing @ 2/13/2015 4:09 PM
If that's the case than anthony Davis and jimmy butler should so play

Knicks season was over early, he was told playing won't damage it, and the recover is 2 months. Next season starts in 9 months- you're just looking to make a big deal about nothing. Seriously, if you were a player, would you want to play for a fan like you?

There isnt anything wrong with it. "He could get hurt" this is the type of fodder you get. The guy is an AllStar. Thats an honor. People are hating on a chance to go be a part of a group that is considered the best of the best of your peers, and perform for that group in your hometown and franchise arena. It means something to Melo. It means something to the Knicks, and it means something to a lot of the fans as well. This is your chance to see your favorite player playing with the best. Its cool. Maybe not to the maniacs on this board who are sooooo hoops saavy they have Phil and Fisher's careers figured out after two weeks. He is absolutely doing whats best for himself (he earned it) for the franchise (they are paying for it) and for the fans (the jersey sales speak for themselves).

Saying it doesnt mean anything... Im not looking to take digs at people, but if youve been lucky enough to play in a game like this at ANY level then you know it means something.

Yeah, and wreck our rebuild by pushing us out of the lottery. Great thinking there, Guns. Maybe you should be our GM?
