unless someone wants to take Calderon's contract or flip us a pick for almost any player on our roster--Hardaway Jason Smith(I mean hes a UFA anyway) etc.. everything should be up for sale and we want nothing but picks in return for now.
We just need to stay in position for the best pick possible--thats goal #1--we can do nothing more than that. Maybe we have some roster spots open and we can look at d league guys but we just have to play out the last 29 hope they go quick and move on.

Agreed, I think phil needs to really try and move Calderon before the trade deadline. That would open up a lot more $$ for free agents..
I agree. Unless someone bowls us over with a pick for a player then we stay put and let every contract expire.
The Knicks may help to facilitate a trade with their open roster spot and trade exceptions and get a pick back. Pablo maybe moved if there is a deal out there. They also might be able to pick up a guy that is traded to make salaries work and then cut or a guy that is cut to bring in a vet on a buyout (i.e. Amare and Sanders). I don't think they are making any big moves but if they can come away with a young player to tryout for the rest of the year and a second round pick they would be doing very well.
they really have to explore melo trade options and talk to him if he really wants to be part of a rebuilding effort here... there is so little here and it's tough to expect us to even be .500 next year...
hopefully everyone comes to their senses... we could still get a substantial draft pick haul for him this offseason and we would be in pretty good shape with the right free agent pickups...
I don't see us making any moves. Likely we fail to trade Prigs, maybe buy him out. I don't think we'll eve buy out Bargs at this point. I agree with BRIGGs- stay the course.
Interesting that there is talk about the Lakers possibly getting something for Nash's expiring. Seems like Bargs could fit into that category.

It makes sense- they want the number 1 pick in the draft

That means we have to take salary back past this season, something I don't think Phil wants to do.
I wonder what the Magic would want back for Andrew Nicholson. It sounds like there is a good chance he will be moved by Thursday.
I do like the idea of stockpiling draft picks to make up for all the ones we are short, especially second rounders. As long as its for players who are long in the tooth. Would like to see the rooks and second year players get the rest of the season to show something.
I think we will make more than one move and i also think we'll make one that will get us a first rounder in either this draft or a future first rounder (would be nice to get one for 2016 since we trade ours for Bargs)

What do we honestly have that would nab a 1st rounder? I like you're optimism, but come on, man!
Interesting, from Basketball Insiders (used to be Hoopsworld)
While both the Knicks and the Lakers have their nose in the deadline huddle, neither team seems overly close to making a deal. Both clubs are watching the Goran Dragic situation in Phoenix, and both have made runs at the Suns.
The Lakers have some assets they would move, namely the ending contract of Jeremy Lin, the ending contract of Steve Nash and a draft pick owed to them by the Houston Rockets. The biggest hurdle in making a deal for the Lakers is their absolute reluctance to take back any long-term salary.
The Knicks are in a similar situation. They would be open to moving Jose Calderon, but there just isn’t a market for him and the remaining two years and some $15 million left on his deal.
Both teams seem open to trading for a player they covet in free agency, if only to obtain their Bird Rights, but it does not look like either team would part with anything major to make it happen.
Both teams are sniffing around for deals that work for their big picture, but neither seems engaged in anything that would truly change the course of their respective plans.

Phil probably flips Calderone for some second rounders. It's all about the yoots now. 2016 will be here soon enough. Then we see what real fish want to be in the big pond.
Sam Amick reporting we've shown interest in Miles Plumlee- love it if we could get him, but it's a long shot

Wow. That would be awesome

Only thing we could offer is Acy, Tim Jr. or Cole, I'm sure Miles has more value, but it sure would be nice.
I wonder how desperate the Suns get to offload IT to try and keep Dragic. We could treat them to Bargs for IT, Green and Plumlee... (I don't actually want IT but I'd rather have him for $6 or $7mil than Reggie Jackson for $12mil)

How minimal a return? Early?
Wojo reporting that the Knicks are one of his preferred trade destinations. In regards to Dragic
