The standard practice is deduct what he would get as a veteran minimum player (I guess a bit over $1mil?), and then likely he gave a few hundred thousand back as a courtesy. Teams rarely play hard ball in these buyout situation, where the player is a vet with a good attitude.

I think Ben Gordon got hardball last year and as a result couldn't sign with a playoff team because he wouldn't give up a cent. Also that defensive SG who used to be on the suns- again his team (the Jazz I think) decided since he wouldn't leave a cent on the table, they refused to buy him out.

Starks and LJ work for the Knicks. What are their positions? Also Mills said beyond not me.

He is probably a gym rat so maybe he can help (melo) with strength and conditioning.

If he didn't help Melo with strength and conditioning when they were teammates for 4 years he's not going to be of any value in that regard in the future. Personally I don't think amare is intelligent, as evidenced by his goodbye poem, and would prefer he stay away from knicks management positions.

It sucks that Phil caved in to dolan on the medical staff. Might be the beginning of the end
