Knicks · Dragic requests trade (page 8)

Are some people actually suggesting that we give up a pick and sign him to 15+ million? That would be a horrible move.

And, I really like dragic

this... Im not giving up a pick for a player i ALSO have to pay out the wazoo for. The ONLY was I could even fathom stomaching such a move is if there is heavy protection on the pick AND they take Calderon back. Something like Jose and a 2018 (w perm top 15 protected) for Dragic as the base of the deal. I think your $12mm number is a good line in the sand.

He has dropped off a lot in the month of January (he was amazing the first two months of the season)- do you still give him the max? I also wonder if it changes the Bulls willingness to do so.

Personally, I think he was playing over his head to start the season. I think at his natural level he's probably a 16-17 points per game guy and mediocre 3pt shooter. His defense has taken a step back this year, and he's said it's because scoring so much has left him with less energy defensively, so scoring less would be a good thing.

How has his play dropped off? He just went on his biggest fear of the season.
Last couple of games he posted 35, 27, 27, 22 & 20
Multiple 30+ games.

He was injured the past 2 games

Its Broussard so not sure how accurate it is.

So Phil's supposedly trying to get Dragic for THJ and Calderon.

http://theknicksblog.com/knicks/knicks-l...

Wow. How long you think that phone call lasted before McDonough hung up on him? About 15 secs??

I think that his his leverage for a trade. Suns can't get good value unless he agrees to the deal with his list of potential suiters.
If he opts back in, there must be a promise on the back end.

If he his agent calls phil, they can hypothetically arange it.
ON the table is Calderon and THjr. Not sure who the lakers can offer, or the others on his list. Basically thats a great deal for us especially if he opts in. A great upgrade.
It keeps our cap open next year and gives us wiggle room to still make a run for KD if that is still open.
Basically you could have

Melo
Oka4
Dragic
Gasol or Monroe
2016---KD

All mixed together with the triangle goodness overseen by "The Lord of the Rings"!!!!

Is it possible? Yeah. Probable, not likely but this is what Phil can sell.

I'm sure its accurate because Miami will want him bad. They are a fringe playoff team committed to a lot of salary. They need someone to help get them into the mix. I'm sure LA can only get him if they unprotect their pick they owe to PHX, which would be crazy the way this draft is shaping up. But miami is the wildcard. Obviously the hope is Dragic isn't moved, and we become the favorites to sign him in the offseason, but i have a feeling Pat the rat wants to stick it to LA and NY badly.

of course the upside is he goes to Mia, they burn some draft picks and he signs with the Knicks in the offseason

lol. he will fit right in to the circus. he's also going to be 30 next year.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 2/19/2015 11:07 AM
Getting Dragic to replace Calderon would be huge. I would give up THJR and another asset to make it happen. If Miami is offering 2 #1's then it will still not be enough but you have to try.

$32M in cap space with a top 3 pick, Dargic and Melo is a pretty good place to be.

THJR has already been surpassed by Galloway who is signed for next year. They could use him as a backup 1/2.

I would like to see Matthews at least.

If Jax could pull off this trade, he will be well on his way to establishing a competitive team going forward.

I would not give Dragic $20M though. Tops would be 12-15M and if he did not like it, then walk, who cares. More cap space.

I don't think its "Stick it"! I doubt he'd been a good GM all these years by making deals fueled by vengence! Has to work for him. Pat has a pretty good team right now and its not young. Its also expensive so by going with two future first rounders it cost him nothing. What we don't know are they his picks? and how protected are they? What is PHX stockpile of picks already? Is PHX trying to get in playoffs now? Do they want to commit to Isiah Thomas? Could they get TJH and Calderone and still trade Thomas for future no. 1 and have future asset, plus Calderon's veteran presence (he will be a better player on a better team!) for a run this season. THjr was pretty good last year but is obviously struggling under the triangle and could be seen as having some decent value, and can contribute off the bench.

Or riles is in his dark tower laughing!

Is Dragic better than Lawson??..Lawson dials up 10 dimes a game at 60% of Dragic's price...

If we ever got Dragic by the deadline (say Phil ups the offer somehow -- Early, a future pick), we'd be getting his full Bird rights, correct? I'd want full exclusivity when we try to sign him to a new deal.
H1AND1 @ 2/19/2015 12:17 PM
Dragic is 30 and a FA next year. If we give up anything of value besides Calderon/THjr, like a pick or even worse a swap of this year's pick it's a horrible move. I wouldn't want Dragic at 30 at the full max at the cost of a draft pick. No f'ing way. This would be a CLASSIC Knick move. If we swap this year's lotto pick Im not sure I can take it. I might finally snap.

All that being said, I like Dragic and getting him for Calderon + THjr would be a total steal. I like the idea of a Dragic/Matthews backcourt next season.

JUST.PLEASE.NO.PICKS!

Dragic is 28 and will be 29 in May and is considered an UFA at the end of this year (Player Option for next year).

We could have drafted Lawson back in that draft where we needed a point guard- we chose Jordan Hill- weep!

I like Lawson a lot, if I was giving up assets (like the Heat or Lakers), then I would target him over Dragic.

Why has 30 become the new 40 on these boards?!
