Phil will get calls from teams needing 3rd party help in some of these deals. There should be opportunities to get some assets in that role. It's going to be very interesting to see what Phil can do.

We have 1 ending contract worth 12mm

then you go down to Jose who s at 7.5mm for 2

then you go to 3.5

do we have trade exemptions?

According to ESPN we have four:

$3.6M from Felton trade

$1.8M from Outlaw trade

$2.6M from Shumpert trade

$5.9M from JR trade

Honestly, I have no idea what our hope or aim is in using these is- if we're not looking to add salary, is the aim to use them to get expiring players for evaluation purposes? Or to take on salary past this season in exchange for second rounders? I just don't see us using them.

From that interview it sounds like we will definitely not be trading Calderon. Phil said there's been no interest from other teams, and he hasn't been out there trying to sell him. Spoke of Calderon's role for the rest of the season.

I don't know either. The only thing I can see happening is some teams are trying to work out a trade and the salaries don't match so we help out with one of our exceptions in exchange for a pick.

I could see teams giving up 2nd round picks if we take expiring contracts off their hands this year. That still doesn't add anything to next year's payroll.
