Someone needs to tweet to phil to pick this kid up asap
NumberTwoPencil @ 2/20/2015 1:48 PM
What I've seen of Robinson looked pretty good. He's definitely worth picking up for cheap. He was drafted, what?, fifth or so and, no, he's probably not going to be a star but unlike, say, Harrison Barnes, he's been traded and traded again and then traded again . . . if he stays put for a while, he seems likely to end up as an inexpensive serviceable 8pt/5r bench guy.
nixluva @ 2/20/2015 1:58 PM
The thing about the Triangle is that it actually gives guys a chance to show what they can do. In Robinson's previous stops he hasn't really had a role. Here he would at least be more involved in the action and that could give him a chance to show if he has more ability than he's been able to show so far. I'm hoping Phil brings him in for a look. We know he has physical talent and a high motor.
jrodmc @ 2/20/2015 2:13 PM
I'd sign this guy yesterday just because he's not Nate Robinson.

I've never understood how a guy who doesn't appear to have any major hops on O can suddenly get 5 feet off the floor for rebounds and blocks.

Do it Phil, now. He reminds me of a young Oakley. Hopefully without the airball j.

EnySpree @ 2/20/2015 4:16 PM
If he wants to come then bring him over....we need hard workers that don't need the coach to motivate them to compete

Five Teams In Talks With Thomas Robinson

February 21 at 7:07pm CST By Chuck Myron

Thomas Robinson has had conversations with the Spurs, Nets, Suns, Heat and Hornets in the wake of his buyout deal with the Nuggets, reports Shams Charania of RealGM (Twitter link). The former No. 5 overall pick went to Denver in the deadline-day trade that sent Arron Afflalo to the Blazers.

The Suns can spend the most, with more than $3.247MM in cap room. Miami has a disabled player exception worth nearly $2.653MM it can spend. The Spurs have a prorated portion of their mid-level, worth about $2.4MM, while the Hornets have their room exception, which comes to about $2MM at this point. The exceptions that San Antonio and Charlotte possess reduce in value daily. The Nets are limited to the minimum salary, which also prorates on a daily basis.

Robinson has seen his minutes decline each season after his rookie campaign, when he was traded midseason from the Kings to the Rockets. Portland acquired him when Houston sent him out in a cap-clearing move that helped the Rockets sign Dwight Howard, but at each stop, the power forward has failed to live up to his draft position. Still, he’s an efficient rebounder, averaging 4.2 boards in 12.2 minutes per game this season.

Robinson is supposed to be really close with the Morris twins. My guess is he ends up in Phoenix.

wtf is phil doing?!

I think he's nuts if he doesn't look into signing T-Rob, if only for the remaining whatever -- 25 games or so. Bring him in and let's take a look. Much higher end potential than Acy, Wear, Lou Amundson, Lance Thomas, Bargnani or whatever the hell else he's got in place right now. If I were Phil, I'd be in full blown talent accumulation phase right now -- first with low level players with potential, then with the draft and finally with higher end FAs once the cap room opens up. T-Rob qualifies for step 1.

nixluva @ 2/22/2015 12:31 AM
It may not be Phil at all. The player and his agent have a say in all of this as well. People keep accusing Phil of not doing things when in fact we don't know if he's tried to get a player or not. So far I haven't heard of him signing anywhere so who knows what is really going on with him.

Other than the nets everyone is offering him more than a league mini.

Seriously. We have one roster spot open from the Share buyout and we should be buying out Bargs to open another one. It does sound like we wouldn't be about to get Robinson since other teams are offering more money but why aren't we signing Willie Reed, Khem Birch, Seth Curry, Jordan Hamilton, or Glen Rice Jr? Or some other D-league guy I'm not aware of?

Nalod @ 2/22/2015 9:26 AM
quick, somebody wake up phil because Im sure he does not realize this kid is available!!!

Im sure its not his work ethic, or his attitude, or that maybe "bigger role=Bigger money??"

Send phil a tweet!!!

TPercy @ 2/22/2015 9:33 AM
I've never seen a dude run the floor like that , he litterally had the block of the century, sprinted down the court in less that 5 seconds only to elevate 3 feet in the air to catch a lob. He is a more talented version of Acy and Amundson combined. We need somebody who can bring us that level of toughness. Imagine a defensive front court that included Towns and T-Rob
yellowboy90 @ 2/22/2015 9:35 AM
They probably do not want the cap hold since he will likely be a FA this summer. All NY could offer him is the min
EnySpree @ 2/22/2015 9:51 AM
Maybe since Thomas Robinson is from DC he Hates the Knicks because his grandfather is a Washington Bullets fan and he hated clyde Frazier and the fact we stole pearl from them back in the day.

The caphold would barely be above the minimum. Hell, we'll have a caphold of $500k anyway for the open roster spot.

EwingsGlass @ 2/22/2015 10:06 AM
Just saying, why wouldn't he take a contract for the rest of this year with a contender and add a chip and deal with FA in the offseason? Also, I am sure PJ will make the requisite call, but I don't believe that means TR is coming.

Why do people think every player would want to come and play here above all other teams?

Unfortunately we already signed Nate Wolters, JayMichael & Jimmer to 4 year deals! We don't have the roster spot!

Knicksfan @ 2/22/2015 10:46 AM
Meanwhile, Phil talks about how Bargnani needs to score more with Melo gone.

Bargnani should've been bought out a week ago!
