I agree... I just can't say with absolute confidence that his game will translate the same way at the NBA level... Its like he just barely scores against college athletes... His scoring is just stretching his body over opponents barely, i cant picture him doing well against tall athletic centers, just size alone doesn't guarantee success in the NBA... Jerome James ring a bell?

He has the same spin moves cept with slightly different variations. Towns also gives me the same uneasiness. On the other hand Russell and Mudiay I have without a shadow of a doubt that they will be all stars in the NBA... If we have the first pick I'd definitely pick Okafor and trade him for Russell or Mudiay plus something else.

you guys are right, i believe....his game won't translate to the nba. he is going to get his shot blocked a ton. plus his defense is probably going to be below-average unless he really devotes himself. i just don't see it working out for this kid, especially as a knick. i don't see him as a difference maker. looks like a solid bench player in the nba though.

i haven't seen towns play yet but i plan to. admittedly sight unseen i think he would end up being the better choice.

Makes total sense. Really??? You never saw the guy play but you think he's the better choice??? Some peoples logic F'in crazy!!!

this was a guy who got kicked off realgm for starting threads with zero truth. He called out Melo for not guarding Lebron, when he did indeed guard Lebron. He's got no knowledge of hoops, sports or much of anything else beyond regurgitating internet fodder from one site to another. DK is a fart in the wind. A little noise, a little stink but really nothing of substance. Ever.

Oh I do agree that it's quite rare for someone his age to show these skills and *if he is a hard worker* the limit is the sky. That's a huge if, though. If we had 3 or 4 lottery picks, I'd happily gamble one of them on him. With only one, it's tougher.

i am going to start watching both okafor and towns going forward. looks like the knicks have a chance at getting either of them... with a bit of luck.

not at all interested in the knicks drafting wings, especially since nobody has said anything about defending the position. the knicks need defenders at every position and they need to start at the center position and radiate out from there.

one big red flag for me: draftexpress has a body fat percentage column that shows towns at 8% which is what you want as a pro ballplayer. however, okafor's is not listed at all. this could translate to conditioning issues as well. i have seen enough of poorly conditioned players on my team.

a word of advice on Towns: the SEC is a garbage conference this year. Towns is playing against inferior competition. If you want to get a good gauge on whether or not Towns will work out I think the only game that is worth paying attention to is when he plays the winner of the #8/#9 game. I don't think you can gauge that until then.

Okafor, meanwhile, has #3 Virginia, #8 Notre Dame, #15 Louisville, and #18 North Carolina in the ACC.

So maybe pay far greater attention to the ACC tournament than the SEC, and then follow Kentucky once the NCAA starts?

One thing I never get is why people say he needs to lose weight- he never really looks like he's too heavy to me. Also he does seem a little bit smaller than his listed height in that video- not sure if its the camera angle though.

I hope we end up with the number two pick, to spare us from making such a difficult decision!

gunsnewing @ 2/27/2015 11:13 AM
Not true. Looking at top 25 teams Towns produced against, Kansas, providence & Louisville. The only other team was North Carolina who kentucky played early in the season and Towns barely played. Probably the game he got called out after and he's been on a tear since. He is a higly skilled college freshman But he still needs professional guidance. Not everyone is as NBA ready offensicely as ok4 at 19. Towns also was great against big physical teams like florida & LSU.

You have to remember kentucky does not need to play their bigs 30+ minutes a night. They blow everyone out and have infinite depth up front.

I really hope kentucky plays Duke in the tournament. Should be fun to watch. Like the superbowl for us Knick fans.

Lottery night and draft night will also be the highlights of our year

as i said i have seen okafor play in clips and i don't like what i see. so choosing towns sight unseen more like choosing towns because i simply don't like the other option. he looks like a legitimate-sized center based on one clip i saw while okafor simply doesn't from a number of clips i have seen.

fortunately for me i will be devoting more time acquainting myself with both players so i can weigh in with my customary authority for the benefit of you and the main contingent of knuckleheads around here.

Guns, Florida is not a big or physical team this year and is playing a very small frontline. A former ball manager has started games and plays heavy minutes at the 4 and he's around 6'5. Jon Horford is the biggest player and he is not that good. Chris walker is a big but he is skinny and gets pushed around.

Karl Anthony-Towns "phenom"

Because Ok4 is the most polished NBA prospect to come out in a long time Towns was often overlooked early on and he plays on kentucky where Stein is his senior. I heard from someone who scouted Towns last year at St Joe's and he was very high on his skills and NBA potential and how he fills the stat sheet.

Towns is just as much a high caliber NBA prospect big as Ok4. He not just a 7 footer with question marks

I missed that game. It was LSU and maybe Louisville with the big front line
