Yea I said the same thing months ago. Legitimate nba Center body at 19. Only going to get stronger. He is a lot more skilled and versatile than Bynum. He is a better passer and long range & FT shooter. Phil is salivating over the prospects of running the triangle through him. Perfect compliment to Melo whereas Melo & Ok4 do a lot of the same things. Nice inside/out alternating between Melo and Towns.

agreed. it would be insane to draft okafor over towns. first the knicks have to be very lucky-- personally i think the knicks squandered any luck they may have had coming to them. and if they are lucky, then towns is the type of player the knicks need so long as we are mired in melo.

I think he will do the most damage vs 5's. I want a Towns/Monroe frontline. Ajinca & Towns at the 4 works too.

If we get this right we will finally have the dynamic front court we've been starved for since trading EwingOak/Camby/LJ

he is going to get abused in the nba on defense.

FistOfOakley @ 3/3/2015 11:32 PM
towns is not a 4.. he is a traditional center in a lot of ways.... especially on defense... the offense he has versatility but his position is center....

towns is clearly #1 right now... he's basically putting up elite center numbers in conference play and that should cement his standing the rest of the way... basically #1 or bust now...

TPercy @ 3/3/2015 11:36 PM
The wildKAT strikes again!
We eatin' Towns.

Heck i'm salivating, freak Phil Man we Knick fans deserve a player like this after all these years of suffering. If we can come out of this summer with a franchise talent it would be totally awesome.

TPercy @ 3/3/2015 11:38 PM
Phil will make a lot of smart Knicks fans happy if we draft the KAT
BRIGGS @ 3/4/2015 1:14 AM
After pick #3 the draft drops off the mountain. I think someone on another board said it well--pick top 3 or bust.

We can still get a good player--but no where near the value of the top 3. Staying in pole position 1 gives us more than a 70% chance of that probability.
When we play Philly two more times--we simply have to play a 12 man roster giving players 3 -4 minute stretches and practice zone flexes and full court pressure:)

fishmike @ 3/4/2015 8:27 AM
Towns is clearly #1.... but once again cant play 30 minutes. 5 fouls in 27 minutes and Georgia doesnt have ANY centers on their roster. Im not sure they have a guy bigger than 6'8, but yea... Im sure Towns will be fine against NBA caliber players.

In a better draft he would be in the 5-8 range. The fact that fols are debating him as a #1 tells me this draft blows.

Damn Fish
wrong about Melo
wrong about Amare
wrong about Bargnani

and now wrong about Towns
Now I know to go against your arguments to find the truth lol
You are a glutton for punishment

Might be time let go of the chess thumping approach and accept that everyone has a right to their opinion not just you

love to know what your talking about or singling me out for. Wrong about...?

Puzzling as you have been on every side of every debate on this board at some point.

Fishmike--a 6-11 260 pound skill PF is just what we need to START with. I'd be very happy with okafor a s well but I think people can see that Towns is a more diversified player who might still be growing.

gunsnewing @ 3/4/2015 8:54 AM
Who knows who will be a better pro towns or ok4. We need a top 2 pick.

There are free agent guards on the market. The quality bigs on the market are either over 30 of their ceilings aren't as high as these 2 guys.

It can be the difference between becoming a playoff team and a championship contender. Best part is you have a big producing on a rookie deal. Plenty of flexibility to fill other positions even with Melo's salary.

Briggs... despite what Guns says (remember he has the attention span of a 12 y/o girl following One Direction on Twitter) I think Towns is an excellent prospect. I think he's a good kid and a high character guy. I think he's long enough and athletic enough to be an impact player in the NBA.

I simply say he has a set of question marks that cant be denied. Qualilty of competition. KY puts out 2 7 footers against a team with nobody taller than 6'8 and he still fouls out and the game was close. Who are the quality bigs we have seen Towns face?

Im sorry are these unfair questions?

Just for the record my draft board:
1) OK
2) Russell
3) Towns

So why Guns is writing posts that I "am wrong about Towns" after watching him foul out against an opposing frontcourt that is below NBDL talent I would love to know the thought process is there.

gunsnewing @ 3/4/2015 9:37 AM
We need 2-way players around Melo.

Forget Dragic, amare, BARGNANI. If we drsft OK4 I hope he becomes an average to above average NBA defender

nyk4ever @ 3/4/2015 9:43 AM
towns has a lot of cousins in him (hopefully without the childish issues) i've watched him alot more than i have okafor this year. i do worry about towns being very raw and needs to find ways to stay on the court more, too often he's in foul trouble. offensively, he looks very good though. okafor, from what ive seen is eddy curry defense bad. very very very very polished offensively though. if it were me, i think i'd go with towns, although you can't wrong either way.

We gotta have a draft party. It's going to be bigger than the superbowl

NYKBocker @ 3/4/2015 9:54 AM
I am back to Towns again instead of Okafor. Man, this is fun. I agree with BRIGGS...Towns or Okafor...it would not matter...we would get a great pick. Watch...then we get Mundiay instead

I wouldn't be to upset if we got Mudiay. He will be a very good player I wouldn't doubt it if he turns out to be the best of the bunch. I see Mudiay fitting into the triangle seamlessly.

I agree. A Towns/Monroe frontcourt is my realistic dream right now. Ajinca, Koufos, or Lavoy Allen off the bench. Towns is a stud, no doubt about it. I am equally happy with either Okafor or Towns. I would be content with Russell as well, but the 2 big men are both going to be stars for different reasons. Towns has the most upside no doubt. He can impact the game next season with defense, rebounding, finishing, and his jumper. His post game will take awhile, but adding a player like Monroe will allow him to grow slowly. Monroe will be the post player and main piece for the triangle next season. Towns can be a supporting player and defensive impact guy as he grows into a more focused offensive role. But a frontcourt of Monroe, Towns, and Melo offers everything you can ask for in an NBA frontcourt.

No way would a player of his current ability and potential fall out of the top 5 in any draft. He has 2-way star big man potential. Saying he would be 5-8 in a better draft is beyond a stretch. He has Cousins, Horford, young bynum type potential.
