I agree but the triangle just needs guards and he should be good enough to be a rotational player.

Top 5 according to what? You make it sound like there's a factually correct ranking somewhere that has him at 5. I wouldn't put him at 5 but it's silly to care much about how he ranks compared to guys 3, 4, and 5 years younger than him anyway though.
he's not a traditional pg... but he's a fine triangle guard... he's just like derek fisher as a player...

We just need a vet PG who can split time with him. Calderon actually isn't a bad option, just not at the price we have him. But Galloway will be fine eventually, and fits the mold of what we need at that position. He can end up being a solid, well-rounded guard with time.

and for a 30 mpg rookie his defensive stats and rebounding are fantastic. He's showing he's versatile enough to be a rotation guy and I firmly believe his shot will get better. He may be 6'2 but his wingspan more than compensates and the bottom line is when you watch him for 5 minutes the first thing you see is he does NOT play small. He also doesnt turn the ball over.
So lets recap
- playing top flight defense
- hits big shots
- takes care of the ball
- great shooting potential (#s there just not in NBA yet)
- has a great motor
- recognized around top 10 of his rookie class
There is a smarter than thou voice around these parts confidently labeling Phil's first year an epic fail, but seeing LG in summer, gromming him in the D league and having him play well in the NBA is a nice job of developing a piece moving forward. I think Raja Bell was undrafted also... I can see some similarities there also.
This player is looking more and more like a nice job by Knicks new managment. May be small but its still part of the picture.

Basically, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. The kid is a rookie and we sort of are judging him a bit harsh here. He is showing a lot of potential.

Galloway is Ranked #8 in NBA Rookies in Player Efficiency Rating by Hollinger at 12.75. The interesting thing about your posting style is that you keep throwing out overly dramatic false stats to emphasize your point ...and then when someone points it out, you keep forging ahead with other absurd exaggerated points .... never admitting you were wrong. For instance, your point about Galloway being 4-5 years older than other rookies was factually incorrect just as your point about MPG - almost all the rookies he is being benchmarked against are averaging approximately 20 or more minutes per game.

Oh this season was still a historic failure by Phil and he's lucky this wasn't one of the years we traded away our pick. A reasonably nice 20 game stretch by a rookie doesn't make this a successful season. We've had countless nice 20 or so game rookie stretches (Landry Fields, Channing Frye, Jeremy Lin, and more) that were followed by much worse play. (And this 20 game stretch ranks below stretches of those other players.) I think his .050 WS 48 is an accurate reflection of his play. Like most rookies, he's a well below average NBA player but he's still making a helpful contribution. He's contributing more than what you'd expect from a < 1 mil per year salary and is a good bargain.
I am glad we have Galloway but if this is all you need to say a season wasn't a failure, you're in Nixluva territory. It's almost impossible to put together a roster that doesn't even have one nice player on a rookie contract.
