Yeah. People forget that he hasn't really had a chance to develop and get that anxiety out of his system. When you are always trying to prove yourself, sometimes you over do it and with time you start to play more within yourself and you calm down and focus more. That could happen for Shved. We could really use a few of these players to develop into productive rotation players for next year.

My thoughts exactly Nix

That is actually an interesting comparison, ALexey Shved = a poor mans Goran Dragic. I can see that.

Very impressed with Shevyd. I think there is actually a Knick to root for who can play the game. If he puts on a hard 8-10 pounds while increasing explosion--he could be a really good NBA player. This will help the cause. He's got staying power. I didnt feel that way with anyone--not even Galloway so much(although I think he has earned a back up spot and deserves time to develop) But Shveyd is a guy who really can play--hes got to get to the weight room. If he does he will be a walking triple double machine. I also like the passion I saw in him. He's a great pick up--the best in quite some time--he has REAL potential to be VERY VERY good. Its really up to Alex how good he can be and that is nice to say. If he puts in the time and keeps refining the shot gains that extra weight to take contact and finish and to deliver the pass--hes going to be what he wants to be in this league.

i've always was intrigued by him ... the question was with his shooting and shot selection... the shot selection is still iffy but he can get to the hoop...

gonna be interesting how much he is going to command... he might be worth a qualifying offer if he keeps it up...

EnySpree @ 3/10/2015 11:59 PM
I agree Shved needs to really get stronger this off season. I do want the dude to be careful and not over do it. He's fine with the body he has. When Guys START Doing slot of plyometrics and things of that nature they open themselves to alot of injuries because their body's being over exerted. If he could simply incorporate basic weight lifting to his basketball routine he will get exactly what he needs.

I'm so glad the guy is seizing this opportunity he had with the Knicks. It's a shame how a guy like this can just come here and take over after just a few weeks. Most of his teammates have been here all year and they let him just come in and take their jobs. Smh

Let this be a lesson to the naysayers, who piss on everything that Phil does, should actually know a little something about a player or give them a chance before trashing them. People made fun of those of us who said that Shved had talent. They only went by the way Shved looked in his stop in Houston and wondered why Philly let him go. Like Galloway there was more to the player than may have been apparent to those who were uninformed. Shved would really do himself a huge favor if he did a serious off season conditioning program. This is a HUGE opportunity for Shved to establish a real legit role in the NBA rather than be relegated to an afterthought.

He has body common in Russia.
They are skinny with good strength and stamina.
He is from family with farmland roots like most of the Russians.
You see no body ton but watch out... Russians can be furious and hard to stop.
He loos like quiet type zo.

Dude is definitely looking like a keeper for next year. Imagine how good he'd look as part of a rotation with Carmelo Anthony and several other good players next year..

Agreed he probably would of had a triple double if Carmelo and another good player, plus brags when he sets up Galloway or Jason smith the results are not favorable ... If he's passing that ball to ok4 or towns, milsap,or Monroe... Schved might be a solid starting pg in this league . He's already a really nice back up pg ... I think he's worth the 4 mil to bring him back next year and see how he dose with a good supporting cast ...

Shved
Russell
Melo
Milsap
Ajanica

Or

Shved
Thjr
Melo
Brags or top pf with brags off bench
Towns or ok4

fitzfarm @ 3/11/2015 1:27 AM
Also draft express compares him to penny hardaway .. And I can definatly see the resemblance of penny via the Magic ... This Russian is a keeper for sure ESP for cheap
fitzfarm @ 3/11/2015 1:30 AM
What I like the most is that he is a team player not afraid to pass up the open shot for a better one
earthmansurfer @ 3/11/2015 3:37 AM
I hope we don't blow the Shved QO in similar fashion to Lin - We end up with more payroll and worse players and miss out on the man in question.

Right now Shved looks like Pistol Pete out there and almost our best player. If we decline the QO but still have his bird rights perhaps we save
a little and get him back on a longer deal. But if he keeps playing this well, it will be the QO that he gets. The problem is the QO at 4 million
has a 6 million $ cap hold. So, if he plays really well and wants more, can we just pick up the 4QO and lose the 6 cap hold, there by retaining
his rights for the year after (which might go up more if he keeps playing well.)

A few scenarios here, but if he plays well I'd prefer we offer him a multi year deal starting at under the QO, but again, he might not take that.

What Shved is doing is playing at the top like Pippen. He's moving as the system demands but he's not hiding in the corner. He comes out and presents himself for the pass and since he's so tall he's easy for his teammates to find. The Triangle is great for a big combo guard. This is one of Phil's patented roles and exactly what I expected Shved would be good at. If you watched Shved in Minny he showed this kind of ability but now it's more refined in this system which has a clear role for him.

I'm very pleased with Shved. If he can improve his shooting he'd be perfect for this team going forward. But Phil's gotta bring him back. NO MORE LIN DEBACLES!!!

Thanks for posting the video. Right at the beginning -- dude in the vid went over a couple of options we apparently have with Shved. Sounds like we can either go with the straight up QO early on in FA ($3,998,408 for next season) where he would chew up cap space or we can wait, use all our cap space up retooling, then exceed the cap by resigning Shved to a full Bird rights deal, which would start at what--his current salary ($3,198,723) + a 7.5% increase in year 1 of the new deal, right? So I think we're looking at a new multi-year deal that could start at only $3,438,627.225 ($3,198,723 + a $239,904.225 raise). Is that right?? If so--that may be the way to go. We'd get him back for about 500k cheaper for next year AND he wouldn't be part of the initial cap space figure. We could build the whole team up with all available cap space, then exceed the cap to bring him back on a new Bird rights deal. Interesting. Any potential problems here -- Would Shved go for this and be willing to remain patient? Would he be willing to eat about 500k in favor of a longer deal? What if FA doesn't go according to plan and we don't use up all the cap space and then can't fit him back in for the QO? I guess we would proceed through FA with this in mind (trying to keep about $4mm open). What if someone comes along and offers him more than his QO? Is that possible?

I think Phil should just retain him with the qualifying offer and avoid playing games with people. The guy can play. Waive all the other bums, take the gift that is Shved and be thankful. The dude allows the Knicks to save money and cover a position of need with a quality player.

THIS!!! No more Lin debacles!!! We keep finding guys and messing around and losing them. Shved was hand picked and proved he can help. I've said over and over that every player we already have and can keep on a cheap contract saves millions and makes the rebuild easier.

Guys who prove they can excel in this system should be retained cuz not everyone can do it.

Finestrg @ 3/11/2015 10:01 AM
The idea that we can blow through all of our cap space reshaping the team then exceed the cap to bring Shved back on a Bird rights deal -- that's appealing, esp. if the plan was to use up all our cap space anyway. That would be my first choice if we can swing it like that.
