Nuggets resting Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallinari – not by coach or player choice

Wow! Can't believe the NBA doesn't do anything about that.

I mean, us, we're trying to win. I think!

Agree. Resting is supposed to be for saving guys for the playoffs.

the schedule is rough... i don't know if they hit their 7 games in 10 days part of it but it's going to happen more and more... the hawks and spurs already institute rest schedules.. golden state is already resting guys for the playoffs... it's going to happen more and more until the nba changes scheduling or cuts games...

they should just cut 5 preseason games and start the season a little earlier which would solve it.. but they won't cut those games...

What about the guys trying out for the team, they will only have 3 or 4 games to show case during traing camp, what about reducing the players minutes on back to backs or 4 in 5 nights.

So basically you have the owner, GM, team president, or whomever, calling up their coach and telling them they have to sit down your 3 best players for no real reason?

If you are not in a playoff run, you might as well stagger the days they get off- you achieve the same thing.

For what it is worth, though, they are doing it against a team they would probably lose to anyway (Although you expect Melvin Hunt would have been interested to see what he could do against a superior team given Denver's recent streak of good ball.) and they are doing it in Memphis, where they won't disappoint their own fans.

If they were doing it against Minnesota and they were playing in Denver, I could see Denver fans really being pissed off.

Three Questions:

1) Does anyone know if there are any stats about whether teams are more likely to rest players when they are away from home;

2) Does the quality of their opponent matter in any way?

3) Are playoff teams more likely to rest groups of 2, 3, or even 4 players at one time?

Melvin Hunts "response" to having to sit Ty Lawson...

I'm gonna guess that there isn't any in the cba that says you can't blatantly tank.

and yes the Knicks are absolutely trying to win every game. We are probably going to screw our selves vs Philly twice and Minnesota. We already beat the Lakers

NYKBocker @ 3/16/2015 9:05 PM
Well...Lakers have been tanking in a diff way. They start scrubs and claim they are developing players. They make sure they put their team in a hole in the 1st quarter. I mean they start Sacre and Ronnie Price before. If they started Lin, Clarkson, Wesley Johnson, Davis, Black/Hill they would have won half of the game they lost.

We are tanking the right way...our players are just not that good.
