he was a scoring machine in high-school and committed to providence was ruled ineligible, so he just sat the year out and entered the draft. hasn't done much in the nba so far with the mavs, but it was tough for him to get run there. definitely a worth-while gamble by pjax, this kid can seriously score the basketball and he's most definitely not afraid to shoot. he's only 22

WOW! I guess Phil's naysayers didn't see that one coming. If this is true it would be pretty interesting. Phil's feeling frisky late in the season I guess.

Why are we signing dudes with character issues?
CrushAlot @ 3/18/2015 11:15 PM
Nice. I think there was talk of the Knicks taking Ledo in the Hardaway draft.

Phil's never had any fear of guys with unusual character. Besides this is a no lose situation. BE HAPPY

TPercy @ 3/18/2015 11:18 PM
Lets seee what happens all I'm certain of so far is that he has character problems and he is one of those people who have never played a minute of college ball. His measurements look good.

Well he does have talent and sometimes those personality issues aren't what they may seem from the outside. If this kid could be developed it's like another pick you got for nothing! I don't see a downside to this at all. We've got a great bunch of guys so he's coming to a team with some hungry dudes all looking for their next contract. He'll get a chance to prove himself and that's a chance he hasn't really had so far. It could make all the difference.

We've got a cast of walking wounded. Between THJ, Early and Calderone, we got more than enough room. Ricky might be another bench guy for us. 10 day contract is just the right move.

CrushAlot @ 3/18/2015 11:37 PM
Knicks can test out the big backcourt with Ledo/Shved.
nixluva @ 3/18/2015 11:42 PM
I can't stop. I CAN'T STOP!

Phil made out good in that STAT buyout.

Report: Mavericks to waive Ricky Ledo to make room for Amar’e Stoudemire
Dan Feldman Feb 17, 2015, 10:15 PM EDT

When Amar’e Stoudemire committed to the Mavericks, I figured he’d take the place of Bernard James – who’s on a 10-day deal.

But Dallas is going a different direction to clear a roster spot.

Shams Charania of RealGM:

Ricky Ledo was a second-round pick in 2013 after one season practicing (not playing) at Providence due to NCAA-eligibility issues. He played just 16 games for the Mavericks in two seasons, spending plenty of time in the D-League.

Though he was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school just three years ago, Ledo is already 22. He has two unguaranteed minimum seasons after this one remaining on his contract, so a team – looking at you, 76ers – could claim him on waivers. But the fact that Dallas cut him rather than James should say something.

not a bad move... hopefully ledo turns into something...

MARK MY WORDS: Ledo will take hardaways place, Hardaway gets traded for an additional pick

This dude doesn't even ball on the D-league level. I don't know why the staff didn't move on player's that actually played at a high quality but I guess he could help with the tank though.

Every team can handle 1 player with character issues- now JR has gone, we have a slot free. Besides which, I'm not really aware of Ledo being a problem while in Dallas.

My misgivings are, we're okay at guard- I'd rather we spent the last roster spot on trying to find a cheap from court player.

VCoug @ 3/19/2015 7:18 AM
Why? Even this dude's D-League numbers suck.
