Knicks · Kevin Love? (page 2)

I want Towns and Love, and also sign Danny Green.

C Towns
PF Love (or Monroe or Millsap)
SF Anthony
SG Green
PG Shved

Pretty good balance. Still weak defensively, but offense would be great.

The following summer really focus on upgrading the bench.

Basketball is about quality not quantity. People like to point to the Spurs' team oriented play and herald this as some kind of Age of the Role Player but these people seem to forget the fact that that the Spurs have sported no less than 3 all-stars, including one HOF, for the past decade. So no matter how big their expendable talent plays, you need major talents (that fits) to win. I personally don't think that Melo and Love fit especially well with one another but we need all the talent we can get. I'd sign Love at all costs, then sort out the mess later.

Agree. And everyone must still remember love isn't amare. He is much more versatile and would bring a different style to the team. He's a much better fit with melo than amare was.

you're oversimplifying and don't understand how the spurs have been so successful.

Rift with LeBron James could drive Kevin Love to join Knicks

The only thing that make sense for Knicks it to trade Melo for Love...
I think Melo will do it to get under LeBron wing and form the big 3 he was dreaming about.
Great trade for both teams...
Keep dreaming.....

Imagine the leadership potential of a team led by Melo and Love. It'd be a veritable juggernaut of team efficiency.

Not that it would ever happen, but I actually think you could be right about Melo craving some Lebron daddy time. It would take all the pressure off of him and he'd get to hang out with his buddy 420 Smith.

Actually, I have a sinking feeling the Knicks may trade their lotto pick to CLE for Love and his Bird Rights.

I am not in favor of this.

Even just signing him outright I think is a mistake. The defensive liability of Melo and Love would be insane. We'd lose 130-125 every night, or every night that counted, at least.

LeBron shouldn't have sent Wiggins packing. Dumb move. Surprised he couldn't see what Wiggins was capable of, or maybe he did and didn't want to eventually become robin as he got older.

Love to NY scares me as well. Love was able to consistently put up numbers in Minny at a level that was truly elite. Yet as others have mentioned, he is a better version of David Lee. Both are good players but they aren't the kind of guys you're going to ride to a championship IMO.

Love can walk after this season, Im hoping Phil knows Knicks franchise history well enough not to trade the highest pick we've had in eons.

Love sounds like a whiny loser.

Pass.

I don't know if he is a whiny loser, but he certainly has not had a positive impact in Cleveland - they went 2 & 9 with Lebron out - what does that say about Love? He puts up numbers, but not wins.

Melo & Love would be a horrible arrangement cap wise and shallow numbers wise(great stats, no wins).

I think I might love to trade Melo for Love- I get younger and maybe a player who while not as good, could perhaps play a valuable role as a stretch 4 and a rebuilding team.

I honestly see him heading to the Lakers- makes so much sense for him & them.

I could live with this team. Though I think they'd need a center who could effectively defend for 24mpg while Towns gets up to speed. Or Maybe a Thomas Robinson type banger off the bench. They need some interior D.

And while I'd like to keep Shved, I'd prefer Galloway starting.

Love is not having the same year as last year but he is still putting up very very solid numbers.

WS48 of .169 says that he is definitely contributing at a high level towards wins.

I hope so, too.

But, yeah, we saw with Lebron - the NBA star mindset is "a rookie can't help me. Get me a guy who I can go to war with." which is stupid and wrong, obviously. who would Lebron rather head into the playoffs with now? Love or Wiggins? Maybe Love this season. Next season? Probably Wiggins.

This is why you don't let stars have too much say in how the team is built, especially around draft picks. But Dolan has already given Melo cart blanche many many mannnnny times.

those #s are still based on differentials, EFF% and scoring. So if your scoring at an eff% rate, and play for a good team your WS48 is going to be good. Im not impressed by Love's #s looking good next to Lebron and Kyrie who is now a top 5 guard in the league

That would be an argument for how great his freaky off the charts .245 from last year without Lebron on a team that could not win games.

You really can't use it that way.

+1 fish
And Amen to the bold. It's always been Love's track record, and playing with the best player in the solar system, the only thing he has to show so far is 2-9 when he's the man and trying to pick fights via the media with the King O'Cleveland. Hardly inspiring.

Let him go to LA where he can continue to be a billionaire's David Lee and never make the playoffs.
