The predicament Knicks will end up with if they get 1st Round 1st Pick: Okafor or Towns.

I think the whole thing with Melo and personnel decisions I think has been overblown because of CAA. Never though CAA's influence was because of Melo but because of Dolan. CAA is big in the music industry and Dolan thinks he's a musician. One of CAA's clients is The Eagles. When The Eagles went on tour recently, completely by coincidence I'm sure, Dolan's bad happened to open for them. That's where CAA's influence comes from, not Melo.
Melo is more a follower I don't see him as a player that would demand who he wants to play with. Give Melo four guys and roll the ball out and he will play win or lose without complaint.
this could not be further from the truth.
Are you saying Melo is a leader? Melo is a follower always has been and always will be. Melo is a happy go lucky smile on the face guy.
he is not a leader yet certainly makes sure that he has a say in personnel decisions as stupid as they are.
Melo will make suggestions but no one takes him seriously. You have to have the pulse of the team to make suggestions that are valid. Melo doesn't have a pulse of his team such as a LeBron, Jordan or Magic Johnson would of his team.
He should not have anymore ... I hope that is the case just not convinced that it is.
Dolan is too loyal to his minions
Papabear Says
In order to get Melo to resign Phil had to share is vision with Melo. So why won't he share with Melo what he is doing and the type of players he want to get.

Actually in order to get Melo to re-sign, Phil had to throw some serious money at him. Also, there's a big difference between Phil sharing who he's going to draft with Melo and Phil asking for Melo's stamp of approval on who he's going to draft.

because Melo's vision is Rondo types. He is not a GM.
Vmart wrote:stopstandthere wrote:Melo is not an ordinary employee in view of the Knicks management and I bet Phil instead of getting the Melo's stamp, he will get the endorsement from Melo.
That is where you are wrong. Phil will do the thinking for the franchise. Melo is a ball player he got his money. JR Smith and Melo are tight and he dumped Smith. Phil is the star here not Melo he is the one with the rings not Melo.
Yes in theory this could be true, where the management is separated from the employee. But it comes into practice, that would not be so clear cut.
Remember how Melo forced his trade to come here?

Probably and what endanger this franchise is that Melo thinks like a GM though he is not.

There is no reason to think Melo has been granted a vote in who the Knicks draft. What does Melo know about Mudiay if we had to draft him with the 4th pick or decide to go with someone else? Those kind of decisions are way above his ability to make.

Yes. Melo sure does not have been granted a vote in the draft. What I am saying is Melo could probably be endorsed about the potential candidates being drafted. Say a causal talk between Phil and Melo on this issue.

This would be quite possible. Jackson could even ask Anthony what he thinks about a group of players he will be considering.
You figure that Anthony has been watching the NCAA games and how certain players are doing.
You don't have to ask for Anthony's blessing on any particular guy, but maybe he has some thoughts worth listening to.
I'm not an Anthony fanboy, but if I was in Phil's shoes I would want to hear as many thoughts about potential draftees as I could.
What the hell has Carmelo won to be given that much power?

He "won" a very large contract, my friend, that looms even larger as we attempt to build a team around Anthony.

Oh my! May God help us. Billups said it best, for Carmelo's same, he shouldn't be afforded that much power
