They need to cut some

salary--there is no doubt about that. They simply have too many players.

How about a deal where we take Ibaka and pick # 19 this year(saves them 14.5mm) and give them back a 2018 pick restricted only to 5(which is a gorgeous asset). Bringing on Ibaka gives us the perfect compliment player to either of Towns or Okafor --hes only signed for 2 more years and would give us the defense that we need on the interior.

Great trade for us. Not sure if OKC would do that though.

This is the way I read their roster

They have

Durant--mega money PF
Adams--hes the C for the long term
Kanter--they just gave up a number 1 for him--they better be prepared to go to atelast 14mm per.
Mcgary--they love him
Collision--they just signed him for 2 more years
Perry Jones---has shown some nice signs

This is all without Ibaka.

Now its not going to work by trading Ibaka and taking salary back--so you eliminate 23 teams. Im willing to give them one of the most coveted assets in the NBA the #1 pick with low restriction--but that has to cost them that salary Im taking for a player coming off injury AND their 19 or 20 pick this year. Nothing less. They get a major asset and their $ problems solved. We get the player and the additional pick this year.

Its a good concept, but your trading out a future first rounder. Im thinking we do that when we are contending and its likely a low pick.
Or, protected on first 15, not 5.

I doubt they trade Ibaka and a 1st. The guy is worth a lot in the free market. They could probably get the kings lottery pick and ship Novak,Roberson,Jones and lamb out.

Also, their pick at 19 would go to Philly.

They cant do it--over the cap.

They can definitely do that by not taking back salary on the smaller pieces just like you suggested for Ibaka. A few 2nd rounders or future protected 1st would save them 10m. If they trade Ibaka for Sacs(example) pick that would save them another 10m. They can easily drop 20m from their Salary and add Cauley-Stein,

I don't think they trade Ibaka at all because they are not sure if Durant is staying. Take the tax penalty for 1 year and revisit this in 2016. They still probably will sell their smaller pieces though.
