Nothing wrong with the question since it's being pushed in the media. Straight answer; No. WCS is clearly a limited player, even after spending 3 years at UK. The clear choice is Okafor.

i've seen okafor play a few times now. i have questions about his conditioning and his motor and his quickness. that has a direct impact on his ability to defend on the professional level where everyone is a bigger and stronger. in the nba you can't afford to be a liability or even average and expect to help your team win. on the offensive end he seems to lack the ability to elevate which may well mean that he can be neutralized effectively, made less efficient by less than defensively elite big men.

i look forward to seeing him play this evening and would like to be proven wrong since the knicks need to have choices. i mention choices because the default position for many so-called knicks fans seems to be to acquire talent regardless of fit. that would be a grave mistake and i am happy to have read that phil jackson looks more for fit and defense.

Same exact things couldve been said about Demarcus cousins to a tee and now look what they have. There is no 6-10 275 pound basketball player with his advanced skills who has even a scintilla of a chance to be a bust. From everything i have read he is a very hard worker and he will learn how to use his body while it matures. This is a 18 year old kid who has lead his team to the final four without ANY real interior help.

yea DK should stick with stats cause you have no idea what your eyes are telling you. If you understood what post footwork meant and why its such a unique and valuable skill you would understand why there aren't many, if any who can neutralize OK4 1-1 in the NBA.

hey knucklehead i said nothing to detract from his footwork, which is promising for sure. as any other poster will tell you, i prize footwork but, again-- there's that "issue" you have.

i addressed his conditioning, his motor, his quickness. if you weren't in such a hurry to be a douchebag dick you would have perhaps digested that.

oh well.

Well you are looking at 19 year old without a nutritionist or a strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer..It depends on the individual..If he approaches his conditioning like Amare, Mailman, and Duncan then he could be a very good player..Hibbert couldn't do 5 pushups before coming to the NBA..It depends...No way of telling at this point..

no hes not a franchise player but i think he can be a good start in this league. the NBA is about pick n rolls and switching on D. u need a big man who can guard guards like he can. but is he a franchise player? no...but a nice asset

Stein did not have a good game tonight. He was not as active as I wanted to see
BRIGGS @ 4/5/2015 12:03 AM
He's like a 10 -15 pick for a team that has a lot of offense already in place. His bust potential is moderately high

I think they have separate eating but only get 3 meals a day. At least thats how it goes for FB. Im pretty sure other big time sports arr the same. i know in fb they have the team nutritionist make meal plans for some players I just dont think it is made for them. I think they just pick out their portions on their own at every meal time.

You have to do better than 1-4 5 rebounds in a big game as a junior 7 foot c going angainst a guard most of the game. In back to back games he was used by 6-5 players. He had a few moments as a defended but its like playing 5-4 on the other end.

Uptown @ 4/5/2015 10:43 AM
He'd fit in with a team that pushes tempo where he can take advantage of his quickness and size. You would be playing 4 on 5 in an offensive half court set. Defensively, he will make for a good help defender who can swoop across the lane for blocks or to change shots. He will have a very hard time guarding in the post, one on one as he doesn't have the strength to keep guys from backing him down...

I can't see where NBA types would see stein in these last two games and cringe especially on the offense. To me he played himself out of the lottery. When you are outplayed by guys 7 inches shorter if you can't step up against better competition there is something wrong. I understand he has solid defensive skills in college that have almost no translation to the NBA. A c can't help off his player in the NBA like they did at Kentucky. Look what switching did to Kentucky last night. To me Willie stein is completely out of the lottery and exposed the last two games. He avg 4 points and 4 rebounds against and Wisconsin that's not a high end NBA player. Give Chris Webber credit for calling it right. And if this was Phil's pick he better darn well go back to the drawing board

Uptown @ 4/5/2015 11:45 AM
Chris Webber was dead-on in his summation of Stein. I commend him for having the balls to not sugar coat his scouting report just because he is a college kid. I was never that high on him in the first place. With that said, the draft is all about potential and coaches feel like they fix or develop anyone. Stein is 7'0 and can run like a guard. The foundation is there and in a coaches mind he is a consistent mid range jumper, and a low post jump hook over the left shoulder away from being a really good player. Someone will take a shot at him in the lotto probably late.

With that said, there is no way i can see Pjax taking Stein in the top 4.

You want to walk out of this draft with nothing. Russell and WCS two of the weaker selections in the draft. Two players that were shut down on the offense very easily. I wouldn't select either until the 8th pick or later.

1. Towns

3. Russell
4. Mudiay

IMO Stein doesn't even come up into the conversation unless we were to trade down for another pick. 1-4 you've got to go with max potential.

Wisoonsin won this game because they had to pay no attention to Willie Stein. All season I knew that Kentucky played Ken Pom low rated opponents the last two games they had to go higher and it showed. Their lack of offense absent of karl Towns and one of the Harrisons was quite evident. If Willie Stein cant be part of a college offense how can he be part of an NBA pro one?????????????????????? the more I think of it--the more I would simply wipe him off my radar at any pick north of 20. I don't like players who cant be part of the offense. Bust material BIG time.
