Ill pass on stein. I'd like to see if taveras from atlanta would be available.

I want guys with some concept of help defense. Okc preaches help the helper. If he can't defend somewhat decent I wouldn't make him a priority. This team needs talent but you need smart basketball players.

I want a guy who can give me 25-13 every night. This is a strong athletic player who plays hard. He seems to me from watching that he is picking up his d in okc. I'd rather take the summer to teach better defensive fundamentals. What he can do on offense and rebounding cannot be taught its innate. Actually if the Knicks get lucky and we get towns matching towns and Kanter would immediately give us one of the best front lines in the east

Kanter did not play a good first half and still did 21-17 today and really if he hit his bunnies wouldve been 30-17 and OKC wouldve won that game
Over his last 3 games against top Western teams Memphis Dallas and Houston---Kanter avg 25 points 17 rebounds 1 block shooting 65%
I've watched him intently and I don't think he has defensive deficiency--in fact I think he has substantial defensive upside as he plays very hard. He ran the court heard EVERY play did not take 1 play off. I think he might be the best rebounder in the NBA right now--he swarms rebounds and hes big enough to play a 5-4
I would say hes 3 levels above Greg Monroe--I do not think Monroe plays nearly as hard. Kanter scores easily and in the east would be a monster.

ive always like Kanter's offensive ability (more than Monroe - in fact hes a better athlete than monroe). Sure he has defensive potential but im worried about is why hasnt he REACHED it yet. im worried that he has a loser mentality and doesnt push himself. but theres no question hes talented. would i sign him to a MAX contract? no he hasnt deserved that yet. but i wouldnt mind overpaying him to have him on the team.

Another OKC loss- I'm starting to wonder if that jazz player was right in his criticism of Kanter (he gets his stats, doesn't defend, and as usual gets the loss). No idea if it's true or fair, but the seed of doubt has been planted.
callmened@ 4/5/2015 7:45 PM
i just wonder if hes really an IMPACT player that deserves max money. we all know he can score but does he really change the game? in my opinion hes a 2nd or 3rd scorer on a bad team and 4th scorer on a bad team. but hes still young...alot of room to grow

I agree- though I've been advocating signing Monroe and I don't think he's an impact player either!

I know this player is the best value in free agency at max. There is no other player close to his age skill size combination.
callmened@ 4/5/2015 9:53 PM
who has a bigger upside kanter or tobias harris? (btw - a new yorker who loves the knicks).. its probably still kanter. but i still worry about his mentality.

Kanter is only 22.

There comments seem pretty consitent. Great low post player and rebounder but a very subpar defender. They also questioned his maturity and mentality in Utah, kinda concerns me on how he would deal with NY..
BRIGGS@ 4/5/2015 11:46 PM
You know what helps watching a guy play several games. That way u dint have to ask others to give an opinion u can make your own.

I've watched 4 games of him and it is pretty consistent for me. He is an agressive rebounder, and good in low post. I still don't know where you get this "Two way" potential from. He gets lost easily, never looks to block and is a bad post defender.
callmened@ 4/6/2015 4:10 AM
BRIGGS....I've watched several of his games this yr. And I've formed my opinions. But i also wanted to get the perspectives from fans who have watched him for the past three yrs. Therefore I can get a full picture. I'm just doing my due diligence and research. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion. I just like to get all angles. (Okc fan perspective coming soon). Seems like you obviously drawn your own conclusions (And that's fine). I just wanted you (and others) to hear from fans who have watched him yrs.

Heres your scouting report with OKC
Dominates Tyson Chandler in only 3 quarters 30-16
Kanter 25-16-4 in only 4 quarters
Enes Kanter 27-12-3 Maimi
Kanter athleticism
This is a taste of what hes been doing in OKC
In his last 5 games he has 6 blocked shots and 70 rebounds
The odds of a player who can score 30 points and grab 15 rebounds is as rare as it comes in the NBA and hes 22. So with all of this to work at I'm sure with his work ethic he can step up the fundamentals of staying in front of your man on defense. Let me put this in another perspective. Kanter is simply a better PF than Carmelo Anthony. He can also score 25 points but he can do it at 55%++ and grab 15 rebounds. Kanter will be a better more efficient scorer than Melo and hes 22. He can help be a core pin for a franchise. Hes not a pure rim protector--thats fine. Saying that Kanter cant play defense is inane--ANYONE can play defense with effort. Anyone can work on defensive footwork. But the odds of getting a player like this with his output potential is ALMOST unheard of. Name me a 7 footer who has 40-20 ability you have seen available at 22 years old in the lat 20 years
There is your scouring report. Knicks give him a max contract offer and work everything else around him. Put Melo at 3 and find a some complimentary pieces.
TPercy@ 4/6/2015 9:39 AM
If he wasn't going to try on defense in Utah, what makes you think he will try in NY?
