If 19 year old Shaq is wearing the Duke white, is he in the game right now?
i was born in 1994 i don't remember
I will answet for you....no he would not be. He was a worse freethrow shooter than Ok4 and couldnt guard out on the perimeter.
okay so now we're comparing okafor to shaquille fricking o'neal. let me ask you this-- would shaq play less than 24 minutes in a 40 minute game? and would it be a close game?
If he was in foul trouble absolutely. Okafor usually plays a little over 30 minutes a game.
he played 22 minutes tonight but it wasn't because of foul trouble.
Really?

watch the game and pay attention to when he left the game.

Got that 1.
well ... GOOD FOR YOU!
You also told us that Ok4 definitely the next tim duncan
half right I guess. I to predicted that it would be the duke guards and not duncan
You know what Okafor's future is based on tonight? Have you watched him much?
yes. I watched pretty much every game of his and I have watched many of the a few times.
I think that I can make a safe prediction that he ain't gonna be no tim duncan.
What say you?
Not the next Tim Duncan but I think he ends up being a very good pro. I don't watch a lot of college ball but I did watch 3 Duke games per tournament and all of their tournament games. I think some guys are being overly critical. He struggles against Frank.
Coach K is pure class. Just wanna give that man his due -- he's 100% behind his kids, he eats/sleeps/drinks that Duke program and he's always been a guy whose first order of business is ALWAYS to say nice things about another coach, another team's player, another school....He respects the game--remember when Duke was up big against I forget who and Okafor tried and blew that reverse dunk? Coach K yanked him right outta there and gave him the business. The man gets it...Congratulations to one of the best ever!!!

Kaminski did school him and he got him in foul trouble. But he sat because of focus and Kaminsky's ability to pick up fouls on him in my opinion.
Ok4 is going to face a lot of Kaminskys' in the nba. Only bigger and faster. His offense was never a concern assuming he fairs well against nba defenders. Its how his defense and athleticism translates in the nba

Laetner schooled Shaq when they played in college. And Mourning. The college game is different.

I watched the game and enjoyed the game thread. Thought Okafor was your Melo tonight but didn't really care. Apparently Coach K is spinning yarns in his presser when he was asked about how he managed Oafor's minutes with his foul woes.

Was about to post this...when Laetner and Duke beat Mourning and Gtown, it catapulted Laetner to star status. Different ball game in the nba as you say.

Coach K just compared Tank to Laetner.

Yup.
Okafor is going to mature into a good pro. He's still at the beginning of his development. Already has a lot going for him. He'll get in better condition and refine more of his game. He's a dedicated worker as has already been shown by how he's worked on his game already. I don't even think his defense was as bad as some make it out. He needs to get in better shape and that should help him a lot in term of his lateral quickness and explosion.

In this game Okafor's defense was less than adequate against Kaminsky. He did himself irreparable harm in his quest to be the number one pick. No jumper, foul prone and an inability to make a foul shoot drops him out of contention.

if you can't see that okafor has conditioning issues then you are blind. the "foul woes" were completely beside the point. he shows flashes of being a good player but i don't see an immediate impact player for a team drafting him. if the knicks are fortunate to have a choice i hope they find a way not to draft okafor. an okafor melo lineup will be a disaster.
