Yeah, he should have just said,
"...Well, maybe we'll win 30 games. But I don't want to hope for more. I'd rather be paid 25 mil to strive for mediocrity, so I don't upset the genius cynics in the NYC area..."
"Faith".......An unsubstantiated belief.
Some have faith in a system that has produced great things. Phil has faith when he looks down at his hands and realizes he has more rings than fingers.
He has been a member of a winning organization at every level. He has faith in himself, his people, and his system.
Some of you go to a house of god every week and pray about things some would say are "make believe". Its your faith.
Every day we go to work and take on new challanges using our experiences from the past to tackle new ones. Is faith in ability.
Fisher has faith he can be a floor leader because he has played on so many winning teams. Phil thinks he can accumulate the talent. Phil is a leader and understands winning.
Amen

He and Phil are definitely not on the same page, because at this point he is definitely going against our only chance to draft a top pick to help this team for the next decade
Fisher is doing his job. If he is losing then you're on his case. If he keeps doing his job and the team wins then you still have a problem with him. The only thing that having the worst record really guaranteed was a top 4 pick. It didn't guarantee the #1 pick. Fisher was doing his job as were the players. No instructions to try and lose were given so they're gonna do their jobs. It's unfortunate that teams we've played have not really tried as hard to win as they should.

Is that what you call doin his job? The dude has collected $5 million to win less then 20 out of 82 games. The least he could do is help us to win the top lottery pick

Knicks have the 2nd worst record in the league and you are flipping out?

A chance at the first pick offers us a lot more wiggle room to grow.

We can still win the #1 pick. That hasn't gone away. It's just a slightly lower chance than before.

The actual difference between the 1 and 2 teams' chances of a number one pick is about 5%, hardly that significant, and the worst case situation is 4 vs 5.
The Jets closing out 8-8 a few years ago was perhaps a worse case of un-tanking, since the NFL has no lottery format.
The NBA draft is just not as certain at this time.
I would rather be the worst team, and I have hoped for this, but there are not guarantees in this lottery, and a 1 out of 4 chance of getting the top pick is not so great, even though it is better than the other odds.
This seems like a solid draft- we should be getting a good player, one way or the other.
Still wish we had that #1 seeding, though...
