the big takeaway for me is that you have to modify your system to suit the personnel on the roster
smackeddog@ 4/16/2015 11:21 AM
The fact some people still want us to re-sign Bargs makes me despair!

Really? He always does so with class. What did he say?
PresIke@ 4/16/2015 3:13 PM
finally...it's over.
misterearl@ 4/16/2015 5:46 PM
Superior talent wins basketball games.
That was the takeaway.

Negative - worst season ever; embarrassing - coaching mistakes - melo injury and older - young players suck - couldve gotten more for Tyson - early didnt look good at all - knicks never really understood the triangle - hardaway regressed
Positives - got rid of SHumpert, JR, Amare - got younger - cleared cap space - will get high draft pick - Fisher will learn from his mistakes - Galloway, thomas, shved are nice finds - as role players

But when you don't have the main personel, you may as well establish the system first, so the players you keep know what they are doing next season.

His post game has gotten better through the season. You can tell he has been putting in some work at practice.
OldFan@ 4/17/2015 9:06 AM
We cleaned house and have some cap space.
We have a high draft pick.
We have an GM who has some BB knowledge.
With a little luck things may get better.

and you take that as an insult to the entire franchise? Jesus man

Will this be a 2year plan with the rise of the cap in 2017
or
Will we try to build a team by this summer to compete in the playoffs?
or
Will we try to go young, forcing Phil Jackson and CA to reconsider CA's no trade clause, with a very possible target being Houston where he would get a trade kicker, NO STATES tax, and play as instant contenders with Harden, Ariza, D12, Josh Smith, Beverely, possibly Brewer/DMO or Terrence Jones, how can CA not reconsider waiving his no trade clause after 2 losing seasons in the NYK's if Phil Jackson decided to go young and work on developing talent for the future
In other words, CA's no trade clause doesn't mean shit if Phil Jackson puts CA in that scenario as we all know CA value's money and knows he has a limited time playing at a high level Watching both JR Smith/Iman Shumpert and TYson Chandler have instanct successs when teamed up with another SuperSTAR

We didn't set the league record for suckiness. Langston Galloway. Melo is going to come back better and will make someone better on this team. My bet is Galloway. Cole Aldrich is the ultimate garbage time center. Langston Galloway.
Tyson, Felton, JR and Shump are gone, along with all that baggage. Quincy Acy will be gone. Shane Larkin will be gone. THJr is going to net us some really nice late draft picks.
Your 2016 Knicks Bench is evolving nicely: Lance Thomas can sort of play some defense. Lou Admunson knows rebounding. Shved can shoot. Cleanthony can ball when healthy. The ankles will keep him untradeable and on the bench. The Greek is on his way.
I'm down 10 lbs and summertime pick-up hoops season is looking promising.
TPercy@ 4/17/2015 9:44 PM
We need two twoway players in free agency to go into this lineup. Reallyneed some defenders./

Well Jr and Shump were teamed up with three superstars and a center that is competent and will play +60 games. Tyson was teamed up with Dirk, Monta, and Parsons and had to redeem himself in a contract year after mailing it in and being called out for being a malcontent. Dirk, Monta, Parsons are much better than Melo, JR and the current euro import, busted Amare and vet mini guys. Kyrie, Love, LBJ are much greater than anything the Knicks had next to Melo as well. The poor showing in NY is on JR, Shump and Tyson not Melo. Those guys needed more than one star to carry the load so that they could just be role players.
