Where’s Tyson? For the second game in a row, Tyson Chandler was by far the second-best center on the court. Dwight Howard pulled in a massive 26 rebounds. His 13 points seemed like a bonus to the Rockts. Chandler had eight points and eight rebounds, the second game in arrow he’s had just eight boards. That’s not enough for a guy who averaged 11 in the regular season. The Mavericks needed more out of their defensive-minded center.

Someone needs some TamiFlu.
They have nothing to complain about. Tyson averaged 7 pts and 4 boards against the pacers for the first three games.

HA! Yeah we got the real Flu Tyson. I'm glad he's gone at this point. We need a set of big who don't shrink in the playoffs.
Chandler is essentially the Wizard of Oz and as time passes more and more people are pulling back that curtain and realizing there's nothing magical about the mediocre, uninspired center on the other side.
He's averaging a double double and he outrebounded Dwight 18 to 5 in game 1. In the last 2, it's looked like he can't keep up with a healthy Dwight Howard. I'm sure they still wouldn't trade him back for Calderon though.

I doubt they pick up Dalembert either (great trade phil). But yeah, Tyson is no match for a healthy Dwight. This is rather an odd thread though....wonder why it wasnt made when Tyson had 18 rebounds in game 1?

Yeah, I edited my post because I forgot he outrebounded Dwight 18 to 5 in game 1. Maybe the media coverage of the last 2 games lights a fire under him again. If Dallas wants a center who can consistently keep up with a healthy Dwight, they're probably going to have to spend $21 mil a year on the position too, not 60% of that. No one is expecting Rondo, Ellis, or anyone else to consistently keep up with Harden either after all.

Very true. The thing with Dallas at this point there is no big on the team as good as Tyson, but they certainly could improve their guard play. Carlisle is way too stubborn for his own good. Start Barea already....and plant RJ on the bench permanantly.

it is pretty simple. Tyson wasn't underperforming like he does when it is playoff time.

I didn't look back at the numbers because of what the blog said. I watched that game and couldn't believe how healthy and dominant Dwight looked. I do remember Hubie complimenting Tyson though.

I understand, wait til said player plays bad, although i wouldnt call it underperforming. Dwight is better, period. When I think of underperfoming i think of everyone's love affir...Marc Gasol. Portland literally has no center, but I dont see Marc getting more rebounds. he's gotten less rebounds than Tyson. Might wanna make a thread about it.

Wasn't that Dwight's first game back after taking a game or two off and I believe he played less than 20 minutes that game. One guy plays 30+min and the other played >20min.
Tyson is who he is though, a good player.

I guess the guy that writes the Mavs blog disagrees with you.

It was Dwight's tenth game back. The low min were because he couldn't stay out of foul trouble, not because of injury.

oh okay, was that the same game Houston had a block party? I haven't been watching this series that much.

Yeah, Dwight had both 5 blocks and 5 fouls

It was injury..If you saw the game they mentioned he would play limited minutes...

OK but that sounds strange. His minutes needed to be limited in his 10th but not 11th game back? I'm not sure how much more he would have played anyway since he had 5 fouls.

Well since he has been back they had been limiting his minutes to 20 minutes a game..That continued to game one..But he and Josh Smith was playing well in game 2 so they let his minutes run into the 30s..I think now the minutes restrictions are gone..But they did talk about limiting his minutes in game one..
