Thats pretty much it in a nutshell
Thats your free agency
3 years 49.5mm for Lopez with a team option for 4 (16.5)
4 years 50mm for Carroll (12.5mm)
2 years 5 mm for Derrick Williams(2.5mm)
Shveyd MLE
Resign Cole
Waive Calderon for the extra 3.6mm
That Could happen. I actually don't know if Phil wants to take a chance on Brook's feet holding up but he might. I've been stuck on the idea of him settling on Monroe if he manages to draft Towns. If he lands OK4 maybe then he takes a chance on Lopez, since Lopez can be somewhat like Pau and score away from the basket as well as in the post. In either case I think Phil is praying for a #1 or #2 pick. Carroll is a safe pick, tho I can also see him going after Danny Green.
if we give bropez 3 x 49 I will become a net fan

If you knew he wouldn't re-injure his foot I think it would be a grat signing. If there is one team that shouldn't take a risk on a guy whose last surgery was to save his career it is the Knicks. If they got Bropez I would root hard for him though.

he is likable but he is injury prone, we know that. And, he is a TERRIBLE defender.
Good offensive player but thats not nearly enough to warrant him such a crazy contract.
and one more thing ... check out his USG -> AST rate. Its worse than Amare ... Did not know that was even possible.

agreed. i will officially stop bleeding blue and orange.
did anyone see how the hawks ABUSED him on the pick and roll? Their game plan was "find lopez and attack him since he sucks on defense"
besides articles are stating he wants to resign with bk
Brooks Lopez 16 mil??..U got to be kidding..
Lopez stat line tonight.. 15 pts on 4-13 shooting..3 rebounds..

Yeah Lopez is worth 7mm --hes a max player?!?
Hes a 20-7-2 center 50%+ hes worth the cash. I do think they rode him into the ground the last 30 games but he is why they even made the playoffs. With Lopez you could draft any of Towns Okafor or trade down for Stein.
The other alternative is sign Anjica for what will likely cost 25-28mm 4 years and find one more player/asset.
I think if you use Lopez the right way with Carmelo and Carroll--that could be a big three. Anjica might be a cheaper alternative but I dont think he can dominate a game like Lopez can. Also I think Lopez can get better with better players.
We have to see how the draft shakes out but we have to think defense on the cheap with guys like Amini and Ed Davis..I think Phil's preference would be to spend money on another wing player with Melo who can shoot the three..Butler would be ideal but not realistic..No way we bring in a center who is a plodder..I'm thinking a stud SG or PF, Butler,Aldridge or Love..Or even Wes Mathews..
is lopez a BAD player? no. its just that he's asking for THE MAX salary. he can get you (an empty) 20-7-2. but dude is known for getting hurt. i dont like giving long term investments to big men with leg problems. I learned my lesson from amare. acquiring lopez would be a typical dolan move of going after a name with big numbers and ignoring his recent injury history
Ajinca - is a young defensive big man with underrated offensive skills. Id pay him 5-6 mill as a back up to towns/okafor

Seriously. I feel like a broken record saying this but can the Knicks PLEASE sign F/C's who can defend? BroPez is atrocious on D and is a horrible rebounder to boot. Throw in the two surgically repaired feet and giving him anything more than a 1 year deal is insanity. No way. If this happened I might cry.
anyone who thinks brook lopez is worth the max has something else coming to them. yeah, let's just totally disregard the fact the guy has had foot surgery after surgery and doesn't play any sort of defense at all. no thanks to brook lopez. a big yes to demmare carrol though - love the way he plays and think he'd make an excellent guy in the triangle offensively and especially as a defensive player.
I just threw up in my mouth. Lopezs no. Carroll yes

Co-sign. I'll buy the tissues.

Thank god you're just someone that makes countless free agency and draft threads and not our GM.
I think everyone needs to be prepared for G.Monroe being our big free agent signing cause he will be our big signing. I'm a Carroll fan and like him better than D.Green for the 2 spot but no thank you on B.Lopez but I will take his brother at half the price of Brook.
Bropez? After we effed up signing Amare to max? BRIGGS, you're slippin man.
No way. Let's not do deals just to do them. Bropez plays no D, is inconsistent (although sometimes brilliant scorer), doesn't rebound all that great, and is a noted injury risk. PASS.
I will never get tired of signing injury prone players who play no defense to max contracts

It's bad enough players with healthy track records come to the knicks and become injury prone, we have never had any luck acquiring players who are pretty much injury prone and all of a sudden become iron men. so i would pass on Brooks with the quickness
I'd pencil Carroll along with Danny Green and possibly Wes Matthews. I can't make a decision on Brook until I know where we are picking in the draft.

Im not overly fascinated by these contracts. These contracts are going to be so cheap--than looking at anyone like we are overpaying is not doing your homework.
The question--can Brook Lopez learn how to move the ball better--well the kid went to Stanford--hes a smart kid--of course he can pass the ball. The thing with Brook if you are looking at the triangle offense--is that he is efficient at hitting the mid range J--capable of scoring 20 points every game --well the answer is yes. Brook was the MVP of the NBA the last month of the season. Hes played very well--some of the criticism here is absurd and I can easily say that I doubt people have watched Brook if they are talking trash--the guy has been unbelievable. I think Brook is a better player than Greg Monroe--I don't see Greg hitting that jumpshot consistently--hes a good passer/rebounder interior scorer--and he certainly should be a candidate for the team. But for people to poo poo Brook Lopez--you have to be kidding me. Hes playing basketball right now and were not--and hes the ONLY reason why the Nets didnt fold. Since Brooklyn took off 23 games ago--Brook has averaged 2.5 blocks and has been in double digit rebounds in half of those games. Hes hit 25 points or more 11 times as well. They were 15-8 in those games with 4 losses coming to Atlanta. hes basically been a 21-10-2.5 55% C the last 23 games--slightly up from his normal 20-7-2 50%. 14 of those 23 games the Nets did not allow 100 points. Theyve been VERY competitive with the 2nd best team in basketball this year--and with a bounce of the ball could be up 3-2 going back to Brooklyn. It sounds kind of foolish to knock a player who is easily better than any player we have. Im sure if there was a GM poll of player theyd rather have Carmelo or Lopez--Lopez would win 30-0. If Lopez played with better players--he'd be a fantastic asset--a player you can go to for big game points and a rim protector. When is the last time we had any C avg 2 blocks--you have to go back to Dikembe Mutombo. Getting Brook on a 16mm contract is a great deal. I guarantee there will be 3-5 teams going after Brook. I think Brook is better than Monroe
