Knicks · Stein and Monroe (page 3)
CrushAlot wrote:I don't think the Knicks draft Stein. I do think they sign either Monroe or Harris.
Stein would be an option under the worst case scenario at best IMO. Teams put out false info all the time. For all we know Phil could go after Kaminsky and Monroe.

Trade down is interesting. Take Wallace and a boston pick for cap space is interesting. Its not about cap space as 2016 all teams will have it. Its about us getting talent.
Stein can play 4-5 so it fits. I mean Phil pretty much had the name Stein roll out of his mouth and called Okafor Olkwandi--thats should give a little insight. Hopefully we get the higher draft pick so we can trade down but we may just take Stein at 2. I think Phil would be happier at 3-4--no pressure that way.
Dude you're trippin. WCS @ 2 would be lynch mobs bum rushing the Garden.
If we go by Phils words--the odds of him taking Okafor is likely low. He doesnt want a PG and he basically said Stein when he was talking. It would be best if we won the lottery--thats what I think. I think Phil likes Stein and Kaminsky better than he likes other guys. Thats just my opinion trippin or not.I think Okafor is Phil's number one choice. Think of the Triangle fit.
please... look logically. This is a Briggs the sky is falling thread. Its OK4. A passing bigman who scores at 65%? The dude holds the ball like a QB waiting for a WR (guard) to get open when he's doubled. Or he just beats you. Phil also knows he can build an offense around OK4/Melo very quickly. Fill the roster with Galloway, Demarre Carrol, Thanasis, LAnce Thomas, types.. guys who will hit the 3 and play down and dirty defense. His Rodmans.
Im pretty sure that's Phil's plan A right now. You cant convince me otherwise. He didn't need to go to all those KY practices to scout Stein. Think about it.

2. OK4
3. Mudiay
4. Russell
5. wilmslow

I don't know..Phil has done everything that this board has been asking for thus far..Bad trades and all..how long have you and others been begging for management to give away JR and Shump?..Tyson and Felton..Tank??..Fill the roster with d league heroes ?
I think that's why Briggs starts a daily Lets max Kanter thread..

my hope is we get towns. if we are in a position to draft okafor or russell, i trade down and try to pick up either winslow and kaminsky.
winslow projects to be a leonard/butler/george type which would be great and is the next-best two-way player after towns. and kaminsky is going to be a good fit in the triangle as a small forward or power forward. maybe not an all-star but close. and i would give winslow a couple of years to develop... i have high hopes for him.
i am a big fan of stein but it would not be a good fit here for him. i don't mind the non-shooting but it is not clear that he will be a good enough passer as a pro, though i'd love to be proven wrong because if he developed passing skills he would become something special.
Kobe Bryant is a once in a generation talent who went 13th.
You said a lot yet you said so little.
BRIGGS wrote:This has been the Knick plan for atleast 3 months. Unless we get pick #1 this will be the outcome --stein can play 4-5 and we have enough on offense with Monroe Carmelo and possibly Carroll. Stein will be our Draymond Green.
you know this for a fact?
but i would be very happy with that dynamic duo on the front court

great insights right there.
winslow projects to be a leonard/butler/george type which would be great and is the next-best two-way player after towns... and a core player. and kaminsky is going to be a good fit in the triangle as a small forward or power forward though probably not a core player. maybe not an all-star but close. he could end up being a good sixth man. and i would give winslow a couple of years to develop... i have high hopes for him.

Trade down is interesting. Take Wallace and a boston pick for cap space is interesting. Its not about cap space as 2016 all teams will have it. Its about us getting talent.
When we first heard that the Knicks had done a lot of scouting at KU practices, I figured they were doing it to get a better look at Towns.
Then I thought they might actually be doing it for Stein, who had such a limited role in the KU offense that you needed to see those practices to find out if he could actually do more than what he showed in games.
He showed me a few isolated things which made me think he had more to his game than what we were seeing, but in the end, I felt he was a disappointment, and even with all his physical ability, you never saw him give any hint of being able to take control of a game for more than a few plays.
If we could get two 1st Rnd picks, I could see taking Stein, if only because of his defensive ability, but if he is our only pick, I won't be very happy, and if Stein and Monroe are the key components of the master plan, Phil will have a long way to go before this team is a winner.
WCS is probably the new Jared Jeffries- there is no way in hell we will draft him with a top 4 pick.
We typecast and talk each other into it.
Oka4 is 19 years old and has a skill set at his age we just don't see very often. In college he got double and triple teamed. What happened? He did not have some great games. Then what happened? His team won a a national championship. We lose sight of that? Dude became a decoy and when it opened it up he did great. If he can pass it out and identify when his lanes are shut (something Stat never was asked to do until later)he'll be great. Stein is a curious player. That team was just so stacked one has to wonder how good he really is.
