This is another reason why I'm so high on okafor. I know okafor can't jump like griffin but there are similarities in their games that will become apparent over time, griffin isn't a great shot bocker and he's a fair team defender that's what I expect out of oak-- maybe more shot blocking for oak, I expect oak to score 22-25 points a game grab 8-12 rebounds develop the 12 footer Blake has and I think oak will be the same passer griffin is
I expect oka at his peak to be a 25-27 point 10-12 rebound 5-6 assist guy. He's the 2 pick without a doubt and not trade able
um..i dont see much in common with okafor and griffin except that theyre both big men who can score. i actually think okafor is more polished offensively and is already a better passer. but he tends to be lazy on defense and im still not sure this kid is in 100% basketball shape. withthat said, hes an excellent player that will have a long career in the NBA. id take him 2nd to towns
also id say that griffin got TOO much fanfare with all those commercials and sportcenter dunks. to his credit he has now backed it up with an all round game
Yeah, he went from being overrated to underrated. His D can improve, but you can say that about everyone.He's the second best power forward in the league now.
Griffin is an amazing blend of speed, power, and athleticism. As others have stated, he's not a complete or polished product but he's a dominating force whenever he's on the floor. Some of his highlight plays and dunks simply suck the air out of the building. I sure wish he were on NY's roster and not the Clippers.

Might say more about how he was marketed than anything else, what constitutes a "highlight" on Sportscenter, and what some fans think makes a player "good," especially those fans who only see his games from afar.
I think coaches and other players can see the improvement in his all-around game.
I still see him as a kind of hybrid forward, as he seems to have a lot of SF in his game.
He does have those moments when he seems to disappear, and many times he doesn't have that interior defensive presence I would want from a PF (pretty poor shot blocking stats), but he defends the lanes well and isn't easy to back down low, even though he seems small on the defensive end, sometimes.
Not sure his passing is "underrated" at this point in his career- he has always had good assist numbers from the 4, and you get the feeling he is as satisfied about an assist as a basket.
His FT shooting has improved- the next step is to become an either better outside shooter.
I'm impressed with how he has improved his ft shooting over the years..There was a time when he was a liability being on the floor in crunch time..

It's scary to think that this could've been our reality if Donnie Walsh had the foresight to lobby for a pick swap in that Zach Randolph deal in 2008. The Clippers clearly thought they were a playoff team and we were clearly rebuilding, so that miniscule a change would not have concerned them.

The league doesn't fear BG defense ... been bust in few yr. Advance attempts in playoffs
He will be ok but small steps in the bigger process for Blake, his Clips took huge step in gm.7

Ok4 is NOT a better passer than Blake. Griffin averaged 5.4 assists per game as a PF. That is off the charts.
He has become a much better player because of his passing.
What I did not like at all was his change is shot selection. He is now shooting 38 percent of his shots from 16-23 feet. I would like to see him attack the basket more.
He actually shoots better from deep then he does between 3 and 16 feet. He really needs to develop a much better short mid range game.
All in all, he has become an excellent player that I wish we had.

That wasn't so long ago. Griffin does look like he upped his game lately.

It is, though I think part of the reason for that was his flopping antics a couple of seasons ago- he has also cut a lot of that crap out this season, but he pissed off a lot of fans and players, which has kind of made them reluctant to acknowledge how much he has improved his game the last two seasons.

Yeah, I was about to say that Blake's passing is light years ahead of OK4 and actually 99% of every other PF out there besides smallball Lebron. I mean it's kindve silly to compare an NBA Vet with a college kid in any case but if OK4 showed off even a modicum of the passing touch Griffen displayed this season he'd be far and away the #1 pick.

I agree that he needs a post game but he is not shooting mid range shots, he is shooting very long range shots.
He maybe shooting the vary long range shots because he hits them at a higher clip then mid range shots. 40% is still not good though.
I would like to see him taking higher percentage shots. Not always but more.

Why is Okafor more comparable to Griffin over Towns?
Compared to Okafor, Towns has more athleticism, is a good shot blocker, and already has a midrange shot.
You simply just stated that Okafor can improve. That applies to any player.
