Knicks · I hope Mudiay doesn't get drafted til second round (page 1)

I don't know what his handlers are doing, but they are trying their darnest to hide this kid as much as possible. He is an unknown commodity and should be participating in all of the combines to showcase his talent. I can understand Okafor and Towns not participating, but not Mudiay.

He probably has a promise. The Knicks do that kind of stuff a lot. Isiah did and hes probably making the pick.

Russell will prob participate in very little of the combine.

Looks like Russell isn't sure about being a top 4-5 player and feels he needs to show himself to the scouts. I can see Russell going just to ease the doubts on his athleticism maybe that last game vs Arizona left a lot of doubt about his game.

There have been concerns about his athleticism and quickness, much like Steph Curry.

I bet he participates in all the quickness, strength and athleticism drills and does pretty well.

I'm very curious about him, but I understand why others are wary. But he earned like 1.5M for him and his family by forgoing the cheap and fake one year of college ball.

Kyrie Irving missed all but ten games of his one year of college and people were wary about him, too. He turned out okay. Obviously it can go the other way, but I don't think it should be held against the kid that he wanted money for a year rather than go through the dog and pony show of pretending to attend classes and study the sacred art of college hoops. March Madness makes a billion dollars every year and the kids get none of it. They get a scholarship, but most of them never take advantage of the actual classes, focusing on getting a pro deal instead. I think they should let kids who play high profile sports go back and get a free degree when they are done pursuing professional sports... that'd make it a little more fair.

I don't think that is a lock . I think Russell goes ahead of him and we if we get the 4th pick, I'm going to be PISSED

The Knicks will still have a chance to get private work outs with players which should solve a lot of the questions.

As long as we get a top 4 it's ok. Mundiay is still a very good prospect, despite not seeing him really. There just aren't a lot of players in the league with his full physical package. Rose, Wall, and Westbrook are 3 of the only ones, and they all did well. The one i'm not sold on is Winslow. He's really benefiting from a good tournament run.

Slap in the face? I don't think the college kids care if Mudiay went to college or not. The college kid knows that if they are good they will get drafted. Besides what is the difference between Euro players coming into the draft and Mudiay. If you really watch college you will see kids who won't even be in professional league. It's a very low standard of game.

What did Mudiay ever do to you? You have a vendetta against an 19 year old kid because he is a threat to the player you want the Knicks to get. I think we should be happy with who ever we get obviously it's going to decided by position of draft and who ever we get will be good. All this rooting for this guy to be drafted or that guy will lead to resentment toward the player and the team you root for.

Yeah and i don't understand why OP thinks its okay for towns and okafor not to participate but not Mundiay. The general public doesn't know as much about him, but his draft stock is just as firm as those guys is. NBA personnel will get plenty of opportunity to see him in workouts and even without that, are well aware of his physical tools enough to draft him top 5. His handlers are doing what's best for him and picking and choosing his opportunities wisely.

Im not blown away by him but the talent is there. He was THE pick coming out of HS. That China contract speaks volumes of his talent level. Those teams can only have two 'western' players on the roster and they knew for even one year this kid could be a draw. He got hurt but did leave Steph Marbury impressed by his game and I think that's legit praise.

The reason i would welcome drafting him is guys like Rose and Wall and even to a lesser comparison Tyreke Evans were major impact players in the nba at age 19. These are generally his range of comparison players. These types of players with the advanced physical tools don't come around often, and when they do, have a major impact in the nba right away. In addition, with guards like Calderon, Galloway, and/or Shved all potentially on the roster, you have combo-type guards who can help ease his transition to the PG position in year 1. It would be a decent fit. The thing i don't like about him is his lack of shooting ability, but having a knock-down shooter share the backcourt with him would make up for that until he really improves.

I hope enough people go this route that it forces the NCAA to pay these guys what they're worth

I think this is correct. I think Mudiay's low end projects to Tyreke Evans. His high end could be a sort of John Wall type player.

The league is built for big athletic PGs who can get to the rim these days. I think he'll be good.

That said, he's no higher than 4th on my board.
