Dallas Mavericks guard Raymond Felton will file paperwork to exercise his $3.9 million player option for the 2015-16 season, league sources told RealGM.

Even so, we should've kept and stretched him, instead of doing that ridiculous trade that we made. His $1.7 million over the next 5 years would've been inconsequential, especially with the cap exploding.

Hoopshype says his player option is 4.5 mil. Either way, was there any doubt that he'd pick up his option? He can't expect that a team would have offered him more than 4 mil

It's alright, anyone who looks at that trade rationally knows you're correct. Larkin was a throwin who we're not planning on keeping, it's why we declined his option. We're almost certainly declining Acy's option and everyone knew he was terrible anyway. The whole point of the trade was to dump Felton while bringing back players that could help us win now: Dalembert and Calderon.

I had heard very good things about Acy and he was just coming off of a great summer league performance. His previous teams reportedly loved him. I was pretty disappointed with his season though.

Yeah... I thought Acy would show more than he did. His outside shooting ended up being OK, but he was not the defender and rebounder I was hoping for. His D, especially, was spotty, given his reputation.

I thought Acey would have a better year than he did as well, as this was his 3rd season

Calderon had a bad year and is slightly overpaid, however, his ability to spread the floor/control tempo/FT and 3pt SHOOTING when we actually have talents on the floor, along with his TO/ASSIST RATIO, have been consistent throughout his career

but considering Felton is complete garbage and Tyson doesn't fit in with the Triangle and our weakness's, I understood the trade
It comes down to how Thansis/Early develop

We kept Tyson, Iman, and JR Smith, in hopes of trading them at some point, but no teams were willing to give us what we wanted
They are not bad talents, just we lacked the talent/leadership to get the most of them, CA isn't a leader/defender/and he doesn't create open looks like Harden or other MAX players create with either the POST/ability to penetrate/facilitate
Even Udrih is much better, though he wasn't in NBA shape as a Knick...
We never had the capitilized on the strenghtst to team up with Iman *with a good PG and G/F,SF/PF on defense* and Tyson Chandler's *with another 7footer that could grab 10 rebounds/block shots/and provide help defense

I have no interest in stretching Calderon, unless we have guaranteed deals in place to add signifigant talent, I do think his contract becomes tradeable as he gets closer to an expiring
In fact, we might need his contract for salary purposes for trades, with the likely hood of having another amensty in the works after 2017 new CBA negatations
By stretching Calderon, he would affect our salary cap for more years, and would much rather give him the Marbary treatement, making him force a buyout like we did with STAT, by him making all his salary next season but only about 2m in 2017 *his final year*, with about a 5m + discount considering he could make back some of it and play on a contender with a vet min to 2m type of deal, a team could possibly pay him a bit closer to the LLE, at a bit over 2m and as high as about 2.5 a year on a 2year deal

We got a trade Exception for Felton which we used to pick up Shved. Exactly who would've wanted Felton at that point in time? We were fortunate to use Tyson to get rid of Felton but also getting a Trade Exception in the process. Plus we didn't get nothing for Tyson. We got picks and players in the deal. Would've been nice to get more but it wasn't as bad as some think it was. We ended up with Larkin, Early, Thanasis and Acy who we traded Ellington for.

Larkin and Acy will not likely be on the team next year, while Thansis could've been had for cash negating the purpose of trading Tyson. Point blank, the trade was awful especially when you consider lesser Centers got their former teams' 1st round picks.

You don't know if Larkin or Acy will be back or not. You're forgetting that by drafting Thanasis, they were able to hold his rights and develop him without starting the clock on his NBA contract. Getting picks when we had none last draft was a good thing. IMO Early was a good value where we got him. I'm not trying to say the trade was a great deal. We all know it was a sell low situation, but you're attempts to piss on what we got is a bit too much. Give it a little more time to see how these players pan out before you trash the deal completely.

I'll do that but I'm batting close to one hundred in these situations involving the Knicks.

It's alright, anyone who looks at that trade rationally knows you're correct. Larkin was a throwin who we're not planning on keeping, it's why we declined his option. We're almost certainly declining Acy's option and everyone knew he was terrible anyway. The whole point of the trade was to dump Felton while bringing back players that could help us win now: Dalembert and Calderon.

I had heard very good things about Acy and he was just coming off of a great summer league performance. His previous teams reportedly loved him. I was pretty disappointed with his season though.

The only things I had ever read about Acy was that he tried hard and was a good dunker but that he didn't have much of an effect on the court. And who cares about Summer League?
