Knicks · Tom Brady OT (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 5/12/2015 11:35 AM
I don't know if this was discussed
but I think he should get that suspension.

IF NOT GUILTY I have said so many years--if a person was NOT guilty they'd scream from kingdom cum that "I am NOT guilty of this--no way no how. Tom Brady has had MULTIPLE chances to say this is fcn crazy--I did not do this or anything close. In fact the team owner held a conciliatory tone up until the actual fine came down. Im a Jets fan hate the Patriots but I have zero agenda. If I thought he stood up for himself and said hey I really did not do this--Id take him at his word as a man--he simply never did. Look at the interview the other day he said "no comment" but why? Why does a man who has nothing to do with this problem have ANY chance to say in public--this is crazy--not do it?

I don't think what they did is that each QB did play with the same ball--we just heard Phil Jackson say the Knicks did it. But at the end of the day its still wrong and its a fair and just punishment. Hes had months to really put this under a rug and he didnt--hes guilty and its a fair fine.

Moonangie @ 5/12/2015 11:42 AM
Agree. I'd also assert that it's a bare minimum penalty, but acceptable. The draft picks will hurt (incl. this year's first rounder) and the fine is substantially bigger than the one for the Jets' filming fiasco.

Hopefully these scumbags stop cheating to win.

Bonn1997 @ 5/12/2015 11:57 AM
No one accused of wrong-doing does that anymore. People are always advised to say as little as possible, and that advice is intended to protect both the guilty and the innocent. I'm not saying he is innocent but the language in the NFL report has so many qualifiers and caveats that I can't even take it seriously.
Nalod @ 5/12/2015 12:06 PM
Im all over the place. I don't like the Pat's but look at it as not that they "Cheated", but got caught at is. Usually its symptomatic.

Use a corked bat, or use a foriegn substance on your hands or too much pine tar on the bat, you get tossed for the game.
From what I have read the basis for the suspension was Brady's non complience to turn over e-mail records or his cell. Thats seems a bit silly as well.

NFL waits until after the superbowl and the draft. I guess its the withholding of evidence that becomes the bigger crime. 4 games is a lot and I suppose they can appeal it.
Kraft seems pretty pissed at Goodell. Perhaps Goodell is none too pleased with them either!

Pats win and are very brazen in their attempts to get an edge. I can't imagine what else they have done and gotten away with.

Bottom line is the NFL should never have got this get this far. In fact, the really only thing one can do is disqualify the game to the Colts but needed to be done the next day. I think the balls in question were all used in the first half until the discovery.

Yeah because most people told to shut up are guilty!

SupremeCommander @ 5/12/2015 12:21 PM
Briggs, your logic could not be more off:

that said, it really pisses me off Bill didn't get suspended for at least a year, a la Sean Payton

So, by your own admission, some are innocent.
Honestly if an organization released a report saying I more likely than not may have possibly engaged in potential wrongdoing, I'd hope people would lose respect for the organization and know better than to take that seriously.
The NFL should either word things seriously or go find evidence that they're unambiguously confident in before releasing a report. This is just smearing a person whose guilty they are admittedly unsure of.
JesseDark @ 5/12/2015 12:58 PM
They are getting what they deserve. Patriots and Bellichick has played fast and loose with the rules for years. This is their second offense, like J.R. Smith, their punishment is more severe the second time. If anything they sould be docked 2 first round picks not a 1st and a fourth.

Nonsense. Guilty or innocent, you shut up so you don't say something material that could jeopardize your legal proceedings. Silence is not an indicator for guilt.

holfresh @ 5/12/2015 1:32 PM
U guys worried about Brady..Dude is living the best life on the planet..He went from the Kentucky Derby to the Floyd/Manny fight the same day via private jet..He is married to Gisele who makes more money than him..He will be ok..

If someone said something I didnt do--Id scream as loud as I could that it was false. Id offer to take a lie detector test or anything that will check my bonafides immediately. Can someone BS--yes but there is no way id be quiet if I didnt do it.

Then you may end up being one of the many innocent people who spend time in prison.

JamesLin @ 5/12/2015 2:09 PM
For a Lombardi trophy forever in history, I'll take that penalty anyday.. well worth the cost, which imo, is chump change compared to being called a Superbowl team (3 times). I mean, they're repeated offenders.. so hell, I'll do it again and again and be the first team to win 7 Superbowl while taking all the penalties.. what can be bad about that huh? (echoes all Pats fans and organization)
Nalod @ 5/12/2015 3:09 PM
Kraft been saying the league owes them an apology.
Bellichek was basically not implicated.
This is about the owner being a dick and Brady not stepping up.
They have the collective agreement so taking it to court is stupid. Million Dollars to repay league for costs and two draft picks to hurt the owner.
Brady's legacy will be just fine.
They cheat, they get caught. Remember, the teams sign an afadavid after each year to say "They did cheat, nor find any disclosure of it". Like the uproar that was with the NBA with the rouge ref and hint's of any impurity, the league suffers cred when this kind of clown stuff goes on. All brady had to do was say he rode his equipment people hard and wanted to them to bend the rules. He should step up and have said, "My Bad". Problem is he

No matter what happened or what anyone thought or what the media was saying, here's what you would do IMHO: Heed your attorneys. And they would tell you to STFU and only issue prepared statements they had vetted. If there were no legal implications, then you'd say whatevs, just as you suggest. But even the "innocent" could be in trouble if they say something stupid or inadvertently tell an "untruth".

This is so wrong. Where are your ethics??? You rather cheat and win? Sorry but its nice to have a clear conscience and sleep well at night. What kind of message do you send to your kids? Brady not only cheated but he bullied the locker room staff to do his dirty work for him. Where does the cheating and lying stop? Taxes, etc. Just tells you the real person Brady is.

Please, these guys play a violent game and sacrifice their health and mental state to achieve wealth, fame and a chance for immortality! PED's, and other drugs been used since the beginning of time.
Owners often themselves are near criminals for what they did to achieve thier wealth. That don't make it right or wrong, it just is what it is.

These guys don't get to the top being nice and fair. Brady is human.

All we know is they got caught doing what many teams likely did. All we know is they got caught for spying and this in the last 10 years. Big deal.

Put your big boy pants on and get real. Its ugly at the top when your looking up. Im sure Tom Brady is losing sleep over his legacy, not the LB's in the foot ball. What message do you send the kids? Life is not fair and there are consequences to getting caught. THats waht you tell the kids. The cover up is worse than the crime. I always went easy on my kids if the fessed up. Thats the lesson. YOur gonna make mistakes but have to pay for them.

what do you want? A "Do over?" thats mature. The "real person" brady is? what did you think he was? Some perfect goody guy all christian and full of doing goodness and spreading of the lord? You think his supermnodel wife is his because of her personalty and kindness to kittens? POWER COUPLE. Lets assume they do love each other and have a good time. Even Better!!!

But.......

Her ass is perfect. They live in a castle and all the good and bad that goes with that. Nobody says he has to be evil, or is, but he is a professional athlete, not "father Brady" of the neighborhood parish!

This gets paid $46mil last year. Thats $16 mil more than Tom. Wheres the morality of that? What do you tell the kids about that? Explain that to your daughter! But, its hard work and she is at the top of her profession by a super large margin!!! Her image provides value to whom pays her.

Tom, like many before him will take a hit for it. He'll consult with this PR people and he'll look human, make a come back, and be bigger than ever. Meanwhile, he gets to come home to this:

Agreed suspension is merited, lucky he got 4 gms ? ITs alot but he'll survive and actually 4 gms is more than enough

Nothing vs. or for Patriots but Brady is still legend, 4 NFL rings, does it tarnish it? its for the critics. He is HOF bound.
And as a Devout Steeler fan, like Jets peoples I cant stand NE Patriots and Tom Brady but respect accomplishments.
Deflated Football ? NFL su_x it should have never happened but are you shocked ? NFL the Jail League.

Like Boomer & Carton says ruling decision its "BEAT TOM BRADY", Brady supporters get over it & move on.
Glad my Steelers miss the SOB 1st NFL game on TV, hope steelers win !

how much money do the pats save by...
a. not paying brady for the first 4 games (and still getting practice and preseason out of him)
b. not paying the 1st rounder next season and 4th rounder the season after

that 1 million fine really... thats gonna send a message?? that's chump change to an NFL team
