You will not get more information on a player in the pre draft process than we got on Mickey in the last two days.
A. His draft "projection" is VERY clearly wrong. Hes projected to go 32 and 45 in the main two mocks. I had him at 28 and thats still way too low.
B. He came in at legit size 6-8 solid 240 with a 7-3.5 wingspan and he gets off the ground as quick as anyone in the draft
This is a case where even though he is undersized I believe from hat i saw today that his elite CBB shot-blocking skills will translates over to the NBA
I would give him a projected serge ibaka type ranking now and he MUST be moved into the top 18 or even higher. The NBA plays small--he's a unique player because he can also step out and shoot it rebound and runs the floor like a gazelle. This would be a case where maybe I say Ill use either some cap space or a future pick to get in on this now. I DO NOT think we will find a player who is better BOTH ways possibly even at pick #1. Hes not a 1 pick obviosly but his value has to have sky rocketed. This guy avg 3.5 blocks and 10 rebound as a freshmen and sophomore. His value from where he is picked---I guess now 16-23 represents high value. Stein is not a premium shotblocker either is Towns their good hes great. No other player has the ups and quickness to the ball on the D than Mickey. You question that during the season is he too small--but the answer is no. Hes like an advanced Taj Gibson.
Thats the main thing I came away from a Knicks perspective today--if we trade down or come in with additional assets--this is a player that fits the mold.
i worry about how short he is for a big man. at that size he better be able to switch and guard wings (which im not sure he can do). he fits the mold (as a small PF) as d. green who is even smaller. the difference is green can shoot, pass and he's extremely INTELLIGENT. i think late 1st rd is about right for him

In a perfect world, he goes to a team like San Antonio that can stash him in Europe and give him a year or two to refine his game.
I see Golden State taking him with the 30th pick. He'd be perfect there.

It's possible there is a scenario with a trade back with Lakers that can net us 27 This is going to be a player who ends up a steal
