Knicks · Is it a sure thing that Marc Gasol stays in Memphis? (page 1)

GustavBahler @ 5/16/2015 10:52 AM
Zach and Tony Allen are 33, Carter is 38. The West is only going to get tougher. GS, Pelicans, will get better, not to mention there's the Rockets and Clips.

Gasol might be happier in the East. Knicks get a top pick, add some good complimentary pieces, maybe it gives Gasol something to think about. Even if it isnt the Knicks I dont believe Gasol staying in Memphis is a given.

Ehhh..Max dollars gets you a 7 footer who pulls down 7.8 boards a game..He should have destroyed GS front line but he didn't..He lost like 50 lbs for this contact year..It worked, he went from scoring 14 per to 17 per..Dandy..

He's sharing the front court with Zach who is one of the better rebounders in the league. Towns/Okafor and Gasol would be a nice front line IMO. Better Gasol than Monroe.

I didn't like how Gasol looked in this series. He wasn't really playing tough. He is real big but was playing like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Too often he was playing the High Post which I thought was crazy. He's too big to have him out away from the basket so much. Also he reminded me of Bargs in that he doesn't really use any hooks or up and unders inside. He preferred to try and force little face up shots, which he didn't have the room to get off. So many of his shots were blocked or altered that it was painful to watch. Gasol doesn't really get any lift on his shots so it wasn't that hard for GS to get a hand on his shots.

I do think he'd be better in an offense like the Triangle. I don't know what Memphis was running to be honest. It looked horrible. Memphis was outgunned but they never gave themselves a real chance with their haphazard offense. If I was Gasol, i'd take a little less to get out of the West and into a new situation. Memphis needs better talent and youth.

There is a lot of stuff out there about Aldridge leaving Portland including a report that the Celtics may try to trade for Aldridge. Both Aldridge and Gasol have big decisions to make.

Sucker signing. He's only going to give u good play 60% of the time and he wears down by the playoffs. We need youth. I'd rather have Koufus and Cole at 7-8 mm then gasol at double

Gasol to the Spurs would be a nice pairing. He fits better than Aldridge does.

Gasol isn't going anywhere. He grew up in Tennessee and he gets 5yrs instead of 4. He's staying for the same reasons melo did

Totally agree. I think Phil is on this track, too (thankfully). Let's see what happens.

Get your voodoo dolls ready for Tuesday. We NEED the number 1 so we can rebuild around Towns.

Cole at 7-8 Million? Talk about a sucker signing. We will be getting plenty of youth in the coming years. The roster is practically a blank slate. Need some vets to go with the youth. Sure as hell don't want to give the max to Monroe.

I don't think it's a given but if he does leave i just don't think he'll choose the big lights of New York City. He's such a quiet and humble person and to see him going from Memphis to New York is kinda hard to see. I still have him as our top free agent to go after cause he fits the triangle perfectly so hopefully it will happen but i could see him choosing San Antonio or a couple other clubs over New York. My guess is he stays in Memphis.

The Celtics are the team that nobody seems to be talking about in free agency but they have all the assets needed to make pretty much any trade they want with the ridiculous amount of draft picks they have and some good young talent already on the team that can be traded. I hate the Celtics with a passion but i think they'll come out of free agency a winner.

Yeah, Gasol would be a nice fit with the Spurs. The NY press can be very brutal. Id like to see a mix of experience and youth at all positions.

I'm talking 8 mm for Koufus Cole and a third string back up all 3 combined salaries for half of what gasol is getting

Havent seen Koufas play yet. Ive seen enough of Cole to know Ive seen enough. Dont get the fascination. I can see the logic in a platoon system instead of spending big money on Gasol but I believe we can do better than that. Would like to see a starting center who can get buckets on his own.

wh4t @ 5/16/2015 8:16 PM
gasol is getting old and he's expensive. i'll rather take koufos. he can easily average a double x double and get about 2 blocks per game. he's cheap and young to.
