JVG: "whoever says that you can't win by relying on the three is wrong"
Mark Jackson: "who says that?"
JVG: "Phil Jackson"
Priceless!
Yeah I saw that, wonder what Phil will tweet in response. It seemed like more banter and Jeff reaching for a name.

jeff didn't reach ... he knew exactly what he was doing. And the whole reason for the comment was because of Phil's boneheaded tweets.
Says the man with no head coaching or GM job and no Championships. What does JVG know about offense anyways.

Dont mind the tweets by Phil if he (as an exec) can back it up. Its like when I used to play bball back in NYC, and someone would be talking trash on the sidelines after losing a 3 on 3. Not the right time.

the guy took a pretty sh1tty team to the finals.
JVG is awesome ... lets not sh1t on him because he touched a nerve.

I'm actually more concerned about what Phils thinks he knows based on those ridiculous tweets.

Speak for yourself the Knicks were loaded and underachieving until the playoffs. If he had an ounce of offensive coaching ability the Knicks wouldn't have struggled as much.

yeah ... most people picked them in the pre season to win it all.

True, but it is still a legitimate question. What does JVG know about offense?
Love JVG. He respresents the good days of the knicks before we turned to shit for 15 years lol. I like phil too but he has to knock off the dumb tweets

more than all of us.
And he knows that you would look like a loser texting about not relying on the three while all the top three shooting teams advanced.
I love JVG and I love his real person honesty.
Listening to him call games, you realize how much he knows. This was the same when Kerr used to call the games. Lots of great insight.

I love JVG, but his offensive schemes made Mike Woodson look like early Don Nelson. The offense was brutal when he was here and things didn't change much in Houston. That said, I'll always respect JVG and I understand he and Phil have been going at it for a while. The "Big Chief Triangle" statement is an example. I don't read much into it, either way.

Ha, yep, I remember the JVG offense- he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to adopt a fast pace with Spree and Camby. He is my favourite commentator though.
This whole 3pt thing is a red herring- these playoffs have shown you can have success with all different kinds of teams, and that success in the playoffs depends a lot on teams and players heart and execution- same as it's always been. Talent levels too- take Harden off the Rockets, take Thompson or Curry off the Warriors and they simply don't win as much regardless of their system.
At the end of the playoffs the teams reliant on 3pt shooting who came up short will go into the offseason determined to get a post scorer, and the poorer 3pt shooting teams will try to get better 3pt shooters. Same as it's always been.
as much as I love JVG, every time he ran his mouth when he coach he Phil owned him. straight up owned him. JVG probably can't get over that
JVG is on the side lines. Phil is in the game. Thats all I need to know for now.

To be fair Phil does say a lot of dumb things especially on twitter. I kinda wish he would just stop doing that and just focus on turning the Knicks around

He is entitled to his opinion and tweet what he likes- it's not really fair if the media and fans can ridicule and attack him 24/7 but he's not allowed to say anything.

You tweet, you are fair game

Phil isn't sitting out meetings and putting calls on hold to send out tweets. He can still tweet AND focus on the turning the Knicks around. However he should still be prepared for some backlash which I'm sure he is used to by now

I'm talking about people who say he shouldn't tweet- I have no problem with people saying what he tweets is a load of crap
