Funny some things stand out. Im thinking they did the lottery on a sunday in 1985 cuz I was having dinner with my future inlaws in their dining room.
I was about to graduate college and we were discussing moving to North Carolina. We had the TV on in the back ground and when I saw Knicks got the pick, and subsequent no brainer they were drafting Ewing, I was thinking "Great, Knicks finally get a franchise talent and Im moving away!".
Remember was watching the Knicks Rockets "OJ-Bronco" game in my den because that spring my daughter was born and wife was shusshing me to "not wake the baby".
Tonite I will be at a concert at 8:30pm when the lotto event will be shown. I'll tape it but check my phone for news.
Its either gonna be Knick event or just another dissapointment!
When the Knicks won the Ewing lottery, I was in a college dorm room, upstate NY with my room mate/suite mates, looking at the results..The entire dorm/quad erupted...People screaming out their windows, people ran outside, hugging, jumping and celebrating...Was awesome..We thought it a rebirth of the NYKnicks era...Would love that to be the case now..
I will be home glued to my TV..
I was hoping we would atleast get Wayman Tisdale.
Sitting in my apartment with my newborn son in my lap when they replayed Debuschere's fist pump with Ewing's face on the screen. I jumped up and yelled like an idiot. Never forgot that moment.
Neither did my son. Kid never touched a basketball for the rest of his life.

Believe I was working, night shift for govt. Naval contracts 9,30p-6a
But I had then taped anything nba and Knicks..
Fortunately when, nyk Dave d., won the pick for Ewing...it was on Tv
So often, seen it over and over, a happy time then in ny
It's possible that my parents had just met around that time...I dropped on the scene in 1992. But I'll be on my couch with my brother and best friend tonight trying not to throw up after they disclose the team that gets 6th pick.
Papabear Says
I was at home watching TV then I went to the studio and produced another hit record.
Tonight I will be watching TV and then I will go to my basement where my recording studio is now and try to get another hit record.

I didn't know you were in the Music Scene. I was not producing a hit record. We weren't so fortunate but I was also in the same situation in St. Albans, Queens and came out of my basement Studio to watch the Lottery. I was so freaking excited. I'll never forget that day. I thought we'd be seeing a Title.
Would have been a class move to have his son's represent the team this evening.
I will be at the liquor store
I was at home watching TV, will be doing the same for my last night in florida before I drive to Seattle tomorrow. Finally getting the phuck outta here.

This reminded me of:
I put my pants on just like the rest of you -- one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on, I make gold records.
I was only 7 when this occurred. So my memory is hazy. I really didn't become a basketball fan until I went to a playoff game at the Garden against the Bad Boy Pistons (Knicks won in overtime but of course we all know what happened in the series). The energy was so insane I was instantly a basketball and Knicks fan. The floor was shaking. I remember Kiki Vanderweigh hit a go ahead or game tying three and I thought the floor would collapse.
I can only hope tonight I witness something on the level of the Ewing draft.
