After next season we have ALL our first round picks- we can tank until our heart is content.
Phil and his fiancée can cause an earthquake to the league for years to come if they do this deal: if Minny decides to go with Towns as reported, LA can select Russell which could force Philly to either trade the third pick or select the next best guard (Mudiay). Knicks can then go and select Okafor and trade him to LA for Russell. With such a deal, both teams would find themselves on the right course and both Jinney and Phil would be viewed as martyr by both franchises and fans.
We could turn around and offer Monroe a contract, and extend an offer to Wayde for his championship pedigree,as well as, leadership. We would then have enough money to pay other FAs; specifically, three point specialists to stretch the floor and another big man who can defend and rebound.
Some reports indicate Flip loves Oka4 but rest of his scouts prefer Towns.
I am resigned to the fact that Towns, Oka4 and russell are off the board for us.
Thats not terrible in this draft. Any of them fall I'd see it as a bonus.
I would welcome any trade that has melo going out for LA's pick. Not out of Melo hate, but my preference to build for the future.
I'd have to say next year we'd be giving Toronto a nice gift but fact is Knicks have to do what is best for them longer term.
Some how Toronto should promote our rebuild in some fashion. Not to say I want to tank but development of youthier assets should be our priority and having two blue chip yoots at the very least could be fun to watch.

Just Nalod contribution to throwing it on the wall and see whats sticks. reality is Lakers can't sign Rondo and Love AND absorb Melo's contract. We'd have to take back salary.
