Huh??..Yet another player who wants to take less money to come to NY?
If he pulls that stunt how long befor he does it to the Knicks or any other team he goes to. It would put a bad precedence on his part.
Don't see that happening.
Didn't Rubio tried to do that?
whine whine whine whine whine
What if Minny realizes that he will bolt as soon as he can- in essence, he would use the T Wolves to learn the game, hone his skills, and then leave while in his prime to go elsewhere. Maybe Minnesota then chooses to look elsewhere, or trade down.
On the other hand, he might go reluctantly, and then bond with a group of young and talented players, who just might do something significant at some point.
Who knows.
I thought this was one of the most interesting sidebars of the draft lottery. For some reason they invited Towns and Okafor to attend as if they were both coronated as the top two picks - not unreasonable but both presumptuous and throwing shade on everybody else.
In any case, the media spotlight was on Steve Mills' reaction. Meanwhile both Okafor and Towns looked like they wanted to crawl into a hole - neither looked happy. It should be noted that if Knicks fans were disappointed, the two players who both were hoping to become the cornerstone of a new Knicks era were equally bummed.
I wouldn't project this into a boycott of the selecting team but that is more or less the Kobe draft story.
What if one contracted a mysterious medical ailment, and and yeah, thats the ticket, and somehow dropped in the draft, to you know, say a team like, yeah, thats it, the knicks!!!!!
Then it would be unproffesional and I wouldn't want him in NYK.
Didn't Ely Manning demand a trade to the Giants?
This is such a rare occurrence in the NBA it really isn't even worth talking about. I believe the last time this happened was way back in 1999 with Steve Francis. Besides, Minnesota will be talking with these guys prior to the draft; if they think Towns won't sign they'll just pick Okafor instead and LA will pick Towns.

This would be great, because then after next season we can trade Melo to LA for Towns (et al). By then Melo should be looking for a way out, and LA with Kobe resigned for one last hoorah (with his buddy Melo as heir apparent) will be perfect. LA is also a big market, and may not want to wait for Towns and Randle to blossom.
Yea I was hoping the Lakers won the lottery. Minnesota stealing our lottery slot was absolutely the worst thing that could happen but as Knick fans we are used to it

LA didn't win the lottery, but there's always the chance Minny picks OK4 or Russell or Mudiay. We're not done with Towns just yet.

wouldnt philly just draft him then or lakers? russell might drop

I think Philly really wants Russell or Mudiay. If Russell is gone they might offer their pick or Embid for the Knicks pick if they take a big at three. The Knicks probably have to throw in a second rounder at least.

What is the deal with Ambiid? He was a hot commodity in the last draft

He is injury prone. He had a serious foot injury. He reportedly gained 50 lbs. He reportedly has shown up late for practice frequently and his coach has called him out for his work ethic.
