I think weve seen what Admundson brings offensively--hes opportunistic plays hard but he really has no post game per se. In this video Hasheem has 5 post ups--critique Hasheem's post moves vs Admundson(you can find tape on him as well). I think at 7-2 275 Thabeet brings more to the Knicks than Admundson. 7 years ago Hasheem did not have 1 post move. While not Whitside NBA teams are missing this guy's improvement! Remember ONLY1 team gave Whiteside a chance--he was almost out of the D league.

I still think there is some Mark Eaton in Thabeet. I think hes much better than he was. If people dont remember Mark Eaton didnt even start his NBA career until 26 years old. Thabeet is 27. We should be the smart team that puts him on our SL team and go from there.

i think both players are scrubs.

Again, its always hard for me to take DLeague stats and players too seriously because there is absolutely NO DEFENSE. lol

with amundsen, dude tries hard and i appreciate his effort however hes not that skilled.

im not expecting much from either. if youre asking for a summer league invite? sure why not. but both players are scrubs to me until proven otherwise

Not looking at stats--looking at players movements on the court. I do not think Thabeet is a scrub anymore. You;re right Thabeet needs a chance to reboot his career but like Whiteside a team has to give him a chance--why not the Knicks?

I agree. We should bring him into summer league like we did with Cole last year and sign him if he shows improvement. What do we have to lose? Another season of Lance Thomas and Lou Amundson?

Thabeet is still awkward and clumsy. He's practically tripping on his own feet. His upper body and lower body are not in sync. He looks good once he gets to the top of his move but getting into his moves is very rough. He is 7-2 and you can't teach that so he'd always be of some value and Amundson is just a fill in guy with no upside. I just don't think Thabeet has NBA level agility and balance. When he jumps he lands off balance and stumbles a little. He labors running. Just watch his legs and feet.

Amundson Is trash, we need to stop being content with inferior players

I agree with this. I really like the idea of Larry Sanders I think he would be high risk high reward player. He needs zen in his life what better than having your own personal guru.

Briggs - on paper, if the choice for the last roster spot is Adsmundson vs. Thabeet, I think our choice should be Thabeet because we're rebuilding- whether ownership wants to realize that or not- and Thabeet has more upside than Lou - and I love Lou and see his value on a team as a spark, motivator, spot player and presence on the bench to push younger players & teach them how to be a pro.

But we need talent more than hustle- at least that is what our coach should be good for.

In Thabeets last 12 games of the season he had was afforded more PT than he had all year 30 minutes per. In those 12 games he had 54 blocked shots 4.5 per game 100 rebounds 8.5 per game and 152 points 15.2. Thats 15.2 points 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 block shots from a 7-2 275 C who also took 66 free throws more than 5 per game and made 50 of them. His FG % was over 70% and FT% 75 Hes ahead of Bachinsyski skill wise but if we dont use Thabeet atleast bring Jordan to SL.

I've always liked Thabeet. It looks like he's gotten his timing back on D and he has definitely developed some post moves. The game looked too fast for him before.

He's a low risk, high reward player. I'd definitely take a look at him. If our center platoon next season was Willie Cauley Stein, Cole Aldrich and Thabeet, I'd be pretty happy.

That said, I'd keep Amundson on as a backup 4. The guy is scrappy, buys into the team concept and is a good guy to have on the squad. He absolutely earned a spot here - he's the type of guy you want on your team.

I like Admunson's energy; his impact often never translate on the stat sheets. For that, I value him much more then Thabheet. However,I do believe we should give Thabheet a chance, because of our lack of length on the front court. 7'2" with 6 fouls can still intimidate

Kind of agree with this.

Amundson is limited, but you saw him adapt to the triangle very quickly, and actually show a midrange shot, which totally stunned me.

What if he comes back with a consistent jumper this year? I would rather have a high energy guy on the back of my bench who is a good clubhouse guy.

By this time Thabeet should have developed. There was one play in this video where for some reason he backed off from a driving opponent, and then blocked a second shot attempt. There was another play where he did absolutely nothing to block out on a rebound, and then blocked a shot after an opponent picked up the offensive rebound. He is still tentative, which is not a good thing.

Can't believe that they have not worked with his guy. Saw a nice hook shot, which is something he should be shooting almost all the time. Saw a turn around from an angle that went in, but I would like to see him use the backboard on that type of shot.

I have no issue with letting him play on our SL team.

My philosophy with players I'm not high on is that they should come in, play well, and prove that I don't know squat. Play well and tell me to go to hell. Fine with me- I'm proven wrong but the Knicks benefit. I'll take that trade-off all the time.

Well said Franco. Totally agree. Thabeet (size, shot-blocker, potential, looks a little more polished now) all day over Lou Amundson for me. I appreciate Lou's hustle, I really do, but he's a journeyman player that we can replace with I don't know how many guys out there.

And Briggs--yeah either Thabeet or at the very least Jordan Bachynski needs to be on our SL roster. No doubt.
