Hes not an NBA player. Hes 3 years of hard work overseas from being ready. 21% in the D league on 185 shots.
If Tony Allen is in the league. ...he could be in the league. Hes just a taller version. The difference is T.Allen knows his strengths and weaknesses.

Dennis Roodman wasn't a NBA player, Neither was Ben Wallace. If Thanasis can get it done on the boards and defense I'm sure there will be a place for him.

The kid is good for bringing an amazing amount of energy on defense and that's all he's good for. His problem even on defense is that he brings so much energy that he often plays out of control. It's too bad cause he could be a lot of fun to watch play but he needs to get some control, but if we don't sign him to a NBA contract this year then someone will so i'm hoping we do so we can see him in our uniform giving everything he's got every single time he's on the court which most likely won't be much.

Big difference between a 10MPG situational energizer with no shot, and a 25MPG rotational player who can do some of the things he can do on D and also knock down the 17ft jumper or blow by you if they are guarding you a bit too tight.
Thanasis is also a bit of a freelancer on offense, no?
You would not get the highlight plays from Lance Thomas that you get from Thanasis, but in some ways he can do the same things, and his jumper actually looked acceptable at times last year. He also played well in our system offense, for the most part.
I recall see something about the drop off in his shooting too. Very strange for someone chomping at the bit to get into the NBA. I think if he had shown something last year on the offensive end they might have signed him.
I'm sure they've reviewed all his games...wonder if they will actually sign him?

That's completely on how you want to use him. If you want him to start at PF and tell him good defense and rebounding with occasional shots. Then a role can be defined. Remember Rodman started out as rotational player same with Wallace. Eventually they became starters.

What Shump did in NY was a joke and had he remained he would have done the same. He was giving importance to the wrong things like music career and what not. The trade woke him up now he is giving full effort. Here he was given a bigger role and couldn't handle it. He was asked to be somebody here on the Cavs he isn't asked to be somebody just a role player. Change of scenery and fear can work wonders on some.
Ouch is right. Haven't seen him play yet but you would think Phil would have signed him a while back if he was all that. Sounds like a long term project.
There are guys in the D league who actually deserve a chance based on results. Thansis has had 2 D leagues and a SL so far and hes going backwards. The Knicks may have made him a JR Smith brother type promise already.

Shump hasn't changed he still putting up similar numbers in Cleveland as he did in NY. Now, Jr, he playing better.

Well there you go the Knicks asked a role player to do to much and he couldn't handle it.
Honestly, if this guy wasn't Giannis' brother he wouldn't be a prospect at all. There's been nothing to suggest that Thanasis is a great or even good man defender; all the talk about his defense is regarding his shot blocking as a help defender. And he's obviously a disaster offensively; he was never considered a good shooter but his 3PT% dropped 70 points, his eFG%, 2PT% and FT% each dropped 50 points, and his TS% dropped 40 points. Tony Allen is terrible on offense but he's one of the best defensive wings in the league and one of the few defenders that can slow down guys like Lebron and Durant; he's one of the few wings in NBA history that you could justify awarding DPOY to. But he's such a disaster on offense he murders Memphis' spacing and offense especially in the playoffs when your facing better teams with better gameplans. If Thanasis is about the same offensively as Allen but like 10% or 15% worse defensively then you're looking at a best case scenario of a bench warmer.
