Signing Monroe and absorbing most of D Lee's contract from golden state is the best way to get back into the playoffs next year. A healthy Lee will still be a 15/10 player and operate well in the triangle. He will expire the following year, so we maintain flexibility. He's the perfect stopgap. With a Monroe, Lee, Anthony front court, and a rookie in the back court, we sacrifice a ton on defense, but we will become a top offensive squad and should be good enough to get back into the playoffs. It will give us some positive momentum going into next summer. Unless we hit a home run in free agency this summer, the goal should be to become as competitive as possible without losing the flexibility of one maxiumum free agent slot. Adding Monroe is the one long-term piece for now. With Melo, Monroe, and Mudiay/Russell/Winslow the only major contracts, we can figure it out from there.
Defense is overrated... Just drop the bucket sucka!!!
I like Lee but if GS barely uses him.....and if you wach him when he plays....He's not the same DLee that layed for us.
Gonna pass on this one
I like Lee too. Good rental while we are waiting for good times after Melo is gone.
what is wrong with David? I know he played hurt one year - has he Grant Hill'd himself?
Time for him to go to Phoenix!
I would love to get David and GS first round pick this year!
Lee isn't healthy- he is on a steep decline, you're living in the IT era if you think he's still that 15 10 player!

He'd be 15 & 10 for us alright:
$15M cap hit who only plays 10 games for us.

He was a 19/9 player the year before and was hurt all this season. He put up good numbers on a per minute basis, but doesn't have a place in the GS rotation so minutes were limited. I will ask you this, what proof is there that he is on a "steep decline", and will not return to 75% of the offensive output he had before the injury? Just because a player gets injured, does not mean he is necessarily on a steep decline, unless you have another reason to believe that. Again, we are talking about one year here. He is 32 years old, i understand that might also factor into your belief of a steep decline, but i still don't think you are entirely accurate.
