warriors would have taken curry no matter what, im sure they had plenty of scouts checking him out
FistOfOakley @ 6/9/2015 8:04 PM
this is a very important draft with lots of speculation going around where we pick... there is zero to be gained from giving away information but a lot to lose... the magic lost a 2017 first rd pick because they advertised the fact that they loved elfrid payton... so what did the sixers do? picked elfrid payton...

workouts don't mean anything anyway.. i hope phil knows who he's picking by now and if he does... don't f'in tell anyone...

Director of Pro Scouting John Gabriel represented the Knicks at ELEV8 Sports Institute’s “pro day” late last week.

The workout featured Louisville’s Terry Rozier, who is projected to be a mid-to-late first-rounder in this month’s draft, along with D-Leaguer Jamal Jones, Arkansas’ Mike Qualls, and Nothern Iowa’s Seth Tuttle, to name a few.
Speaking with TheKnicksBlog.com and SNY.tv, ELEV8 Director of Basketball Development Cody Toppert said, “From our pro day, Terry Rozier and Mike Qualls are the guys who stand out as having the chance to be the best solutions for the Knicks.”

True but it seemed like we (Mike D'Antoni, etc.) were praising the kid, like an advertisement for teams ahead of us to draft him.
With Minnesota having those picks ahead of G.S. it was pure stupidity not to trade up for him.
I thought Curry had star written all over him, but the lower division and questions about his PG skills (though Vital said he was the best passer that year) and
also questions about his athleticism caused him to slide to 6.

He showed up well athletically at the combine, though.

Curry and Rubio would have been an interesting pairing, since Rubio could probably guard at the 2, and Curry could get less worn down always having to orchestrate an offense.

That Minny GM- Kahn- really messed up that franchise with most of his picks- and Flynn over Curry was perhaps his biggest screw up. They should not have been in the lottery this year, and GS should probably not be in the finals.

Most interesting part of the workouts left for me will be whether Okafor schedules a workout with the Knicks. I sort of doubt he will. I guess we'll see though.

I think OK4s stock has slipped AND he's likely not going to shine in workouts, just because his game won't be showcased well in that context. The Lakers put a lot of stock in workouts when it comes to drafting so I think there is a high chance they take Russell and try to sign Aldridge or Love in the offseason.

Of course I wouldn't put it past the Twolves to do something stupid and not draft Towns.

So What I am hearing is we should publicly advertise that we are in love with Mudiay so that the Sixers take him?

SF would be his position in the NBA, I would expect, though who knows these days.

You would only take him if you move down, and I would not want him anyway.

Nice kid who should have stayed in school another year for some polishing.

I'm sure they have their draft board pretty much set to know who they'll pick depending on who's sitting there. They probably have it all set to how far they'll trade down to where they're still guaranteed a player they like as well.

It's funny that WCS is the one who looked most comfortable shooting in his workouts. I never would've guessed that would happen. His shooting form looked better than Mudiay, Okafor, Stanley Johnson or Winslow
wargames @ 6/12/2015 8:28 AM

Here is another Mudiay workout. He definitely athletic. His shooting looked good from what they edited in and I like that he was hitting from 3pt range but it looks like he has a slow release on his jumpshot and those were wide open shots. Honestly that shooting stoke sort of reminded me of Shump....

He has been doing it longer. He is after all a three year college player.

I wouldn't pass this kid up he meets a lot of the teams need probably more than most especially if you are looking for that athletic guard with handles from the SG/PG position.

I think you are right.....His shooting looks fine. Not worried about the slow release. Everybody will respect his first step and leave him wide open....Otherwise, it's a blow by.

What you will find is basically everybody's favorite player from 4-10 will turn out to be great NBA players.....And some will be HOFer's......This draft is that deep.

Usually a kid like this would've been a lock in the first few picks. Jumping from HS to Euro ball hurt his draft stock.....But he's on the same elite level as the top 3 in the draft. It's a high risk to pass on him. Might be better to pick him and then buy another late first for WCS, Kaminsky, Turner type bigs. He has two way potential....Above the rim game (ticket sales for Dolan)....pass first guard, which is rare for this type of athleticism. And his first step and above the rim game, means he has the ability to take over games on either end.

Phil is in a no winning situation.....regardless what he does, he's going to pass on a potential star who could turn into the top pick of the draft......I would hate to be in Phils position.

What Mudiay has now is what John Wall just started to figure out.....Thats what makes this kid special.

John Wall just learned and still learning how to use his speed to create for others. He's just learning how to change gears.....and Walls is a NBA vet now.

Mudiay already has that change of speed game.....Which is key (take it from me since I have a similar change of speed game, which is why my achilles are shot). But with this type of game, you don't have to be fast like John Wall......a good example is Jason Kidd......Kyrie.....They know how to change up their speeds and keep defenders off balance.....Mudiay does this naturally, but uses it to set up players! He will use it more in the NBA to set up for himself also. That balance is what will make him an elite player.

Oh, that jumper will be solid in 3 years. But he can do so many other things with the ball, it's not that critical right now. But it will improve. He looks like the type that wants to be an elite player. And he has a great starting base, with maturity to go with it. All in a 19yr old package. When he's Stein and Kaminsky's age.....He will be an NBA star. Along with Towns and Russell.

I would throw Okafor in there too, who I happen to think is a can't miss talent.

Yeah, I'm back to thinking this is a four player deep draft. We'll get one of Mudiay or Okafor, I think, which is not remotely bad. It's stressful and maddening because we can't choose which one it'll be, but we will get a shot at one of the top 4.

Imagine the madness if Okafor goes #1 overall to Minnesota. Man, this draft is gonna be insane.
